The Heliopan Series 8 Infrared RG 645 Filter is used for infrared photography with digital cameras and specialized infrared film. This nearly opaque filter blocks all visible light up to 645nm, enabling recording of subject matter and scenes that are not visible under normal conditions. Due to the nature of infrared photography, the filter factor for this filter is highly variable and depends largely on the ISO sensitivity in use and lighting conditions. Additionally, it is recommended that auto-exposure and autofocus functions are disabled during use for greater control over the results.

The front and rear surfaces of the filter both feature a single anti-reflection coating. Each coating helps to increase light transmission by reducing reflections, scattered light, and ghosting. Additionally, they offer protection to the filter substrate while helping to keep the glass clean for longer than uncoated glass.

This Heliopan filter is constructed from Schott glass for increased optical clarity and color fidelity. It features a brass filter ring for enhanced durability.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is it compatible with Canon EOS 5Ds?

A: No, it is not compatible.

Q: 2. Confused about whether the gt2545t has one or more intermediate click-stops for the legs. Reviewer here says no, but I've found nothing anywhere else to confirm that?...Thanks!

A: if you're talking about the stop(s) that determine the leg angle, there are two, one which puts the tripod in a tall position and one which puts it in a very low position - I only use the low position with the legs fully collapsed as I think otherwise it would put too much sideways stress on them. I have an FLM head on it and it still fits (snugly) in the carry bag. I've taken it to Japan with me and put everything from a 1937 folding Zeiss to a 4 x 5 Technika on it and I'm sure it would be OK for my 5 x 7 and even my 1903 Seneca wooden 8 x 10. I've used it with a C100 Canon video cam as well - not as resistant to twisting as a real video tripod but reasonably OK. Love it!

Q: 3. Does this include a spike foot?

A: Unfortunately, Gitzo does not produce a spiked foot for this monopod.

Q: 4. Will the card work with the Canon R5 ?

A: No, the R5 takes SD cards and Cfexpress cards.

Q: 5. How tall is the GT3532 with the center column not extended? How easily is the column removed to use the tripod without it?What is the maximum height with the column removed?Does this tripod have non-rotating legs?

A: The tripod extended without the column extended is 52.4 inches. And it is about the same with the column taken off.Taking the column out on this model is very easy. This is a new design; a single simple unlocking ring under the column's upper disc frees the column while keeping the upper disc solidly in place on the tripod.

Q: 6. Can the center column be removed and inverted like the traveler models? I know it can be removed and just the base reinstalled for low shots. But I may wish to shoot with the camera suspended beneath the legs at some point. Thanks in advance.

A: Yes this is easy to do. There is a threaded end cap with the hook to hold a weight on the bottom of the center column. This is removed and the column comes completely out once you loosen the locking collar. It can be reversed and locked in place using the same locking collar. There is a guide pin which prevent rotation of the column. Rotation of your camera is accomplished with the head you choose. I have the small ball head and this has worked well. The entire combination is very light and still rigid and works well for travel.

Q: 7. Does this work for the SonyA7?

A: Not the original A7 unfortunately.

Q: 8. What is the exact diameter (mm) of the top plate of the Gitzo GT1542 Mountaineer Series 1 Carbon Fibre Tripod?

A: It is 5cm, 50mm across.

Q: 9. Is the performance equivalent or improved w r t sharpness, distortion and vigneting from the mark 1 version?

A: The lens has been updated and is sharper than the first version. And has less vignette.

Q: 10. Im thinking of investing in this tripod for my upcoming China trip where I be doing ALOT of hiking up and down steps. What ballheads are people using with this tripod? I've narrowed my choice to the Markins Q3i-Tr (quick screw) and the Acratech gp-ss (lever) heads. The main advantage of the Acratech is its ability to invert for panos. I also love the lever release, it feels great to use. The friction control of the gp-ss is terrible compared to the Markins. After testing both (albeit six months apart) I certain the Acratech had more droop after locking down the ball. I did the test with a 5D3 and 70-200f/4 lens @ 200mm.

A: I use the Arca Swiss PO ball head also. No problem holding my Canon 5D 4 with 100-400 Canon zoom and 1.4 extender. I also sometimes use a Wimberley gimbal head with no problems.

The remote works well with the Nikon D610, even quite a distance from behind. Make sure you put your camera in remote mode using the lower dial on the upper left side. I originally got frustrated because I did not know I needed to do this.

When you need to trigger your camera remotely, this is the easiest, smallest and least expensive way to do it. Should be one in every Nikon camera bag.
