Heliopan Bay 1 Linear Polarizer Filter

The Heliopan Bay 1 Linear Polarizer Filter helps to reduce reflections and glare by filtering out light that has become polarized due to reflection from a non-metallic surface. The light from the sun naturally becomes partially polarized due to reflecting off electrons in air molecules, causing the light to scatter into what appears as haze. A polarizing filter arranges, and filters, this directionally polarized light perpendicularly to the reflected light, allowing for the absorption of much of this light. This results in a noticeable reduction of glare and reflections from non-metallic surfaces and an increase in the saturation of skies and foliage.
A linear polarizer only differs from a circular polarizer in that it does not contain a quarter wave plane that enables use of auto focus and exposure features. Linear polarizers are best suited for use with manual cameras, such as view cameras, that are not dependent on internal mechanisms to determine focus or metering settings.
The filter ring is constructed out of matte black brass, which provides durability and further prevention from glare. They also feature high quality Schott glass for greater optical clarity and color fidelity. The Bay 1 mount is compatible with a number of bayonet lens mount TLR cameras, including Yashicamats and some Rolleis.

Q: 1. Does B&H stock replacement caddies for this drive, or can a potentially faulty drive just be replaced with an Ultrastar Enterprise on the faulty drive's caddy?
A: A drive can be replaced using the original caddy included with the device.
Q: 2. I have a Mac Pro (Mid 2010) running Yosemite. There are no Thunderbolt ports... Is this comparable in some form?
A: As Frankie B said, this will only run Thunderbolt, so it will not work for your particular Mac, however there are other versions with other connections that should work for you, either ethernet or usb 3.
Q: 3. When using RAID 10 (aka 1+0), what can be done with the fifth drive? I'm leaning towards two units; both RAID 10. First unit will be a main working unit and I'd like the fifth drive to be a hot-spare. Second unit will be my backup unit and I want the fifth drive to be available to copy certain critical files to (I'll then swap it out with a blank drive and take the filled drive to an offsite backup location). Over time, I'll keep trading the fifth drives when updating the offsite backup. Thank you. Side note: I've downloaded the various documentation from LaCie, but have not found any details on RAID 10 configurations.
A: Not certain that the hot spare can actively be used. While not invalid, using the second unit as backup seems very conservative. Also your backup unit should have more capacity than your primary to allow for file variations and history. You could use the 2nd version in Raid 0 configuration or use a simpler JBod enclosure. As for the offsite backup - a pair of simple Lacie Rugged drives that you alternate seem to be more cost effective and easier to handle.
Q: 4. Does this drive come with software
A: The SanDisk Professional G-RAID Shuttle 4 24TB 4-Bay Thunderbolt 3 RAID Array does not come with software.
Q: 5. Hey can it work with a hp z820 workstation.my workstation has a thunderbolt port?
A: I did have to download software from there site so if I were you I'd just go on there and make sure they have it available for windows. Other then that it performs great
Q: 6. Do you need to install 4 drives to use this enclosure with RAID or can you install only 2 drives and add more later?
A: Yes, you can start with 2 drives!
Q: 7. Do the drives come with this?
A: Yes. That is why it is labeled 20TB
Q: 8. What power supply can I use as a replacement for the Shuttle-4?
A: The SanDisk Professional G-RAID Shuttle 4 48TB 4-Bay Thunderbolt 3 RAID Array (4 x 12TB) has an internal power supply, and is powered through a standard PC power cable like the Comprehensive Standard PC Power Cord - 6' (B&H # SAPH34H048TN).
Q: 9. I want to know why the 30TB is FASTER than the 10TB? Is the difference in hardware beyond simply using 5x2TB drives or 5x6TB drives??? Can you please explain? I was thinking about purchasing the 10TB and then upgrading the drives myself at a later time. What are your thoughts? Thank you!
A: Disk capacity does have an influence on the speed of an array. The 5Big chassis is the same for both the 10, and 30TB configurations. Personally I would purchase the higher capacity if you either need the speed, or if you think the full capacity will be needed in the future. It is a pain at a minimum to backup an array to change the drives.
Q: 10. Can I upgrade this one to 40tb in the future by swapping out drives or does it cap out at 20tb?
A: Unfortunately, it caps out at 20TB
