For example I did a number of tests with an A7III using several A-mount lenses. Test 1 - A7III with 70-300mm G SSM II It works as intended. You have access to AF-S / AF-C. It accurately focuses and gives no issues. Test 2- A7III with 135mm F/1.8 ZA Sonnar and 85mm F/1.4 ZA Doesn't work. Manual focus only. Test 3 - A7III with 16-35mm 2.8 ZA SSM II Doesn't work again. Test 4 - A7III with 24-70mm 2.8 ZA // 70-200mm // 70-400 It works as intended. You have access to AF-S / AF-C. It accurately focuses and gives no issues. So as you can see here, it works with particular lenses. On Sony's website it shows every lens as "limited functionality". I cannot pinpoint what works and what doesn't. It's inconsistent. So if you have a 24-70mm // 70-200mm // 70-400 or 70-300 G it works the way it should, but if you have other lenses it's a hit or miss.
