Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Nikon lens

A: Please ask a proper question.

Q: 2. I currently own a Sony a7rii not sure if I should jump the wagon or wait for the Sony r7iii

A: Wait! And that's coming from a guy with a Nikon D810!

Q: 3. I use Aperture and Photo, Apple applications. The D850 will not open RAW files with these programs. What is my solution?

A: Apple ceased development on Aperture about the time they introduced Photos. Thus new camera RAW files since that time cannot be opened in Aperture. Perhaps a subsequent version of Photos may open them. But now you will need to obtain another software. Affinity is really worth trying. My personal favorite is Capture One Pro. Version 11 will open D850 and Sony 7 R III RAW files. Then there are Lightroom and Photoshop if you don't object to the subscription model. I do.

Q: 4. For a $3k money more, is it made in Japan?

A: Made in Thailand. But don't let that worry you. This camera not only looks and feels great, but it's really durable as well.

Q: 5. The listing here says: Raw files can be recorded in three separate sizes for expedited post-production, and in-camera raw file batch processing is also possible. Does this mean that it will downsample the full-frame RAW to a less than 45MP file? Or will it produce a DX-cropped RAW file? Any info on this would be greatly appreciated before I preorder.

A: Yes, you can shoot a medium or small RAW file size with fewer megapixels and it is independent from the framing or cropping. You can also choose 36x24 (FX), 30x20 (1.2x), 24x16 (DX), 30x24 (5:4), and 24x24 (1:1 or square) crop modes, independent from the RAW file size.

Q: 6. Will the SB800 flash work on the D850 body?

A: Not sure about SB800 because I never tried it but can tell you stick with Nikon as opposed to Canon. Tried several Canons with D850 and none of them worked. Check contact points at bottom of flash and make sure they connect to Nikon. If no they probably will not work.

Q: 7. is it a full frame camera?

A: The Nikon D850 DSLR Camera is a full frame camera.

Q: 8. WITH THE D850 CAN I USE THE AUTO FOCUS SHIFT IN RAW MODE CAPTURE?

A: Yes. Works well.

Q: 9. what type of remote cord ,made by Oem /third partY is compatible with D 850?

A: Any remote with 10 pin connector will work. Don't buy the ones with a small usb connector, they are for more entry-level cameras.

Q: 10. Can it be used in the D810 underwater housing for underwater photography? or is a completely new tooled housing required?

A: I agree, it is probably so. I don't understand why they all do it. Usually to sell different battery grips and accessories. They also change the size/shape of their batteries, every so often. It is like the printers and their ink carts.
