Q: 1. is this compatible with mac os catalina 10.15.4?
A: Yes, If you upgrade to macOS 10.15 Catalina you’ll need to install the Epson Scan 2 driver below; however, this updated Epson Scan 2 version does not include Digital ICE. As a solution, we are providing the SilverFast SE Scanner Software free of charge. This software includes iSRD®, an Infrared Dust and Scratch Removal tool that you can use in lieu of Digital ICE

A: This item has not been discontinued. As of January 2021 this item is still current. It is not in stock currently as it is on backorder from the manufacturer.
Q: 3. The specs indicate scanning of 35mm slides. I have read comments for other scanners that older style paper mounts need to be trimmed. has anyone actually scanned slides with the V600? I dont want to have to hand trim the 100's of slides I want to scan.
A: Sure, I've scanned a lot of 35mm slides. They fit fine in the supplied templates. No trimming required.
Q: 4. Does the V600 work with the OS X 10.9.2 operating system? I bought my V600 about 2 years ago and had always worked until the OS X 10.9.2 upgrade was installed on my computer. I've tried to download new V600 drivers but still doesn't work.
A: Yes it would work with Epson Scanner Driver and Scan Utility v3.9.2.1
Q: 5. I still have a workng HP PC with XP Pro that I use for for special projects. Would the V600 be compatible with Windows XP ?
A: Yes.
Q: 6. Does this work with macOS High Sierra 10.13.3?
A: I don't know. Call Epson first to find out if it will work. My El Capitan version didn't coincide with what Epson said worked. I checked before purchasing the scanner. They said it should work. When I installed their disc the scanner didn't work but Epson tech support fixed it so it is ok.
Q: 7. How long will it take to scan an black and white 8x10 print at 300 dpi? At 200 dpi?
A: The average time frame to scan an 8x10 print at 300 dpi on the Epson V600 is approxemelty, 30 seconds. But, there are other settings that can make the scan speed longer. There is on information on 200dpi but it should take about 12-18 seconds.
Q: 8. Is there a plugin to allow scanning from within Photoshop?
A: I'm not familiar with Photoshop, but I do use a couple of other applications to do editing. Under the File menu, drop down and look for Twain or Acquire or something similar that will allow you to scan from your editing application without having to use Epson Scan or Easy Scan.
Q: 9. Is it possible to install the software on a computer without a CD-ROM drive (i.e. the latest version of iMac and Macbooks)?
A: Yes, actually nearly all software for recent-vintage peripherals is available from manufacturers' download sites. So you DO need internet access for a download, but a CD-ROM drive is not necessary. You can also download users' manuals. Go to Epsonn's website. I tried to include the URL, but B&H prevented me from providing it.
