Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this work with an iMac running the latest system, 10.10.1 ?

A: Yes, but its imperative that you first upload the cd software that came with the unit. The downloaded version did not work when I tried to use the scanner with another iMac. Once I uploaded the software it worked like a charm.

Q: 2. Does this product scan negatives to a .TIFF file or strictly .jpg?

A: Yes, it scans to .tiff, jpeg and several other formats.

Q: 3. Will the scanner work with 127 negatives?

A: 127 format film is smaller than 120 film. The 120 holder it comes with is larger but you should be able to put your 127mm film in that holder to scan. But you might need to cut the film in to smaller strips.

Q: 4. I have a large library of b & w negatives to scan. I've made some tests but the scanned negatives don't look good nor have the quality I need for printing them 11X14 & 16X20. I have CS5 & OS X 10.7.5. I've had good luck scanning prints but not negatives. I've scanned slides with mixed results (maybe do to the resolution? 300dpi vs 400?). Would additional software help solve my problem? And what would you recommend? The negatives are all black and white--Tri X 400, TMax 100 & TMax 400 and the slides are Ektachrome. Thanks!

A: To make enlargements of 11x14 and larger from scanned 35mm negatives, I recommend setting the resolution to 4800dpi. 300 or 400 dpi scanning resolution for 35mm film is not nearly high enough. No extra scanning software is needed with this scanner.

Q: 5. is the optical resolution a true 6400 DPI? I've heard of scanners with similar numbers like canon just digitally beefing up the numbers on the software which can cause some loss in genuine detail. I'm starting with 35mm slides but I'm soon going to be upgrading to medium and large format film in the coming months.

A: Hi Jesse, I own that same scanner and love it, I shot both medium format film and digital, typically I scan my negs. or color transperancies at either 1200 or 2400. and have found to work very well. At times I have scanned 35mm slides at the same resolution. Not sure you need to scan at 6400. I would scan at different dpi and see which one you prefer after you print them at the size you typically print at.Hope this helps you. Rick

Q: 6. How long will it take to scan an black and white 8x10 print at 300 dpi? At 200 dpi?

A: The average time frame to scan an 8x10 print at 300 dpi on the Epson V600 is approxemelty, 30 seconds. But, there are other settings that can make the scan speed longer. There is on information on 200dpi but it should take about 12-18 seconds.

Q: 7. Will it work with Mac OS 12.0.1 Monterey?

A: Yes. Mac OS require X 10.6.x and above.

Q: 8. Can I play blu-ray movies with this unit?

A: Yes, the Pioneer BDR-XS07S can play Blu-Ray discs when connected to a computer.

Q: 9. Does this scanner work with all versions of MACs or is there a version it does not work with. My current version is High Sierra 10.13.6 on a mac mini (late 2014)? may upgrade later.

A: Here are system requirements are as followed. Mac OS X 10.6.8, 10.7.x, 10.8.x, 10.9.x, 10.10.x Microsoft Windows 8.x, Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP, Windows XP x64.

Q: 10. Will this scanner work with 64 bit Windows 8.1, not Windows 8, Windows 8.1?

A: Yes it will work with Windows 8.1 (32 or 64 bit).
