Stop stray light from entering your lens with the Sensei PRO 52mm Wide Angle Aluminum Lens Hood, a screw-on type hood that is designed for use with wide-angle lenses with 52mm front filter threads. This hood will work with lenses 24mm and longer on full frame cameras or 18mm and longer on APS-C sensors. Lens hoods are primarily designed to prevent unwanted stray light from entering the lens by extending and shading the end of the lens. Also, since the end of the lens is extended and the hood features a durable anodized aluminum construction, you also get the added benefit of some extra protection from accidental impact. Additionally, users can attach 72mm filters to the front opening and it has a non-glare matte finish on the inside to prevent reflections.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can I use this hood to adapt to a clamp on matte box?

A: We would never recommend such a use. All we can envision is a expensive matte box with equally expensive filters disengaging from this and taking a one-way trip to concrete with shattering results.

Q: 2. Evening the 82mm Lens hood used with a Sigma 10-20mm 3.5 how little vingeting is there?

A: I sold the 10-20 because I wasn't using it much. I can't honestly remember any vignetting.

Q: 3. For the 58mm version of this hood, is it possible to use a 58mm pinch type lens cap inside of it? Also, will this cause vignetting on a 17.5mm MFT lens?

A: The 58mm pinch cap works fine. Filters, though you didn't ask about them, are a related issue to consider; you can't attach a filter inside the hood. You must either use 58mm filters behind the hood, or 62mm filters in the hood's front end (either or both could create a vignetting problem). I use this hood on a 6x4.5cm film camera lens, so I can't address vignetting on your lens.

Q: 4. Will a lens cap fit if this lens hood is on a Nikon Z 28mm 2.8 ?

A: The Sensei PRO 52mm Wide Angle Aluminum Lens Hood is compatible with the Nikon NIKKOR Z 28mm f/2.8 Lens.

Q: 5. Will a 82mm lens cap still work or will it require a 105mm? Also, is it will the lip make it harder to rotate an 82mm filter on the back?

A: I don't think 82mm or 105mm lens cap can work because the lens is 77mm. My lens cap is 77mm. when I rotate 77mm filter on the lens, it is smoothly. the hood connects with lens or connect with filter if you first installing filer. my filter is HOYA NXT 77MM. from my observation, i don't think you can rotate an 82mm filter.

Q: 6. Will the wide angle version work well with 50mm (full frame) and above as well?

A: I have not used it, but it APPEARS to be the same profile as my proprietary Canon hood. Give it a try; returning it is a cost-free option. Good luck. Martin

Q: 7. Can I still use a 52 mm snap-on lens cap if this is installed on a NIKKOR 50mm f/1.4D?

A: This hood lacks a thread on the inside to accept a 52mm cap. It would have to be removed when not in use.

Q: 8. Will this work for a 6 x 4.5 medium format 60mm (@35 in 35mm format)???

A: If the lens has a 49mm front thread the hood will fit. But chances are you will get some vignette on the edges of the frame.

Q: 9. Does this also work with Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR Lens?

A: Yes, your lens has a 52mm thread, so this hood will fit.

Q: 10. Any idea if this would work with Mamiya 6 lenses? Would it vignette the 50mm wide angle lens?

A: Sensei PRO 58mm Wide Angle Aluminum Lens Hood will fit the Mamiya 6 50mm lens perfectly. The design allow wide angle lenses to blocked light glares without vignetting.

The wide angle lens hood has great fit and finish. It is made with thicker than normal aluminum for years of ware. I bought it for my Fujifilm 14mm 2.8 and it works perfectly. The hood can use an 82mm lens cap. I am very pleased with the quality of this hood. I would not hesitate buying it again.

This is a nice lens hood that will work with lenses that don't really offer any other kind of hood attachment other than the filter threads. I purchased it to use with some of my prime lenses should I ever feel the need for it. I still gave it 5 stars but the only negative I have found is that you cannot attach the lens cap to the hood unlike some other similar hoods I have had. You will have to remove the hood when your done using it in order to put the lens cap back on. It also doesn't have threads on the inside for attaching filters. You would have to attach the filter first then the hood to that. For the small cost though, none of that is a deal breaker for me as I rarely used any filters on my prime lenses anyway. It does what I need it to do and that's the main thing. It is also very light weight and doesn't seem to make a noticeable difference to the weight of the lens as far as I can tell.

I have a couple of the Sensei metal lens hoods for my vintage Pentax-k lenses. Theads are well cut and finished. The other feature I really like is the hood end is also threaded. I can keep a clear filter and the hood on a lens and just use the lens cap normally. Sure it might be a 52mm thread on the lens and a 65mm or something on the hood but lens caps are cheap.

My GoPro Hero 7 has a metal case and the 52mm Wide Angle Metal Lens Hood fitted perfectly and helped with the glare coming into the camera. There is no vignete at all. Just perfect.

I got this lens hood to go with the Z 28mm lens. I like how it looks on the lens and with the Nikon Zf. I also got the 72mm lens cap to use with this hood. It is very convenient to use the cap on the hood rather than try to fit the regular lens cap for the 28mm lens down past the lens hood on to the lens. I have also used this hood with the Z 40mm lens. I am very satisfied with this hood and the 72mm lens cap for it.
