Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Would this support live color grading of an HDR signal inside of Resolve Studio? Signal would be coming from various game consoles.

A: Sorry - should have elaborated. Potential setup: Standalone PS5 outputting HDR signal to HDMI splitter; splitter output #1 to HDR monitor #1 for untreated monitoring; splitter output #2 to PC and into Resolve for "live" color grading on HDR monitor #2. By "live" I mean without capturing video clips to THEN be graded. A slight lag/delay doesn't matter too much - I'd just like the game to remain playable and have the preview in Resolve update automatically, and support setting up grades without needing to capture clips.

Q: 2. will this card works with a PCIe x4 slot?

A: The answer is no it requires an X8 or X16 slot.

Q: 3. Does this card work with Canon Cameras? Canon 5d IV, Canon R?

A: Yes it should. Note some camera HDMI outputs are not the same as their record settings. And some HDMI outputs contain overlays as you would se in the viewfinder.

Q: 4. What kind of SSD / M.2 drive(s) can I use to to reliably record x4 4k 30 streams at once? Will a M.2 drive 2.0 work? I have an older Dell PC with an I7-8700 processor running win10 w/16 gig of ram. Will the BlackMagic desktop record software be ok to use. Thanks. (sorry for all the questions)

A: Yes just make sure the proper 8 or 16 lane PCI Express slots is available on motherboard. For your storage needs please review the following item https://bhpho.to/3qnMoC0 Crucial 1TB P5 NVMe PCIe M.2 Internal SSD BH #CRCT1000P5SS • MFR #CT1000P5SSD8

Q: 5. will this card ork in a gigabyte motherboard with a PCI Express x16 slot, running at x4 (PCIEX4)?

A: yes this will Work on a PCIEX4

Q: 6. What is the quality of capturing an HDMI output from a computer? I currently have tested the Decklink 8K Pro and mini 4K recorder cards but both of these make computer images look horrible. The computer texts look interlaced and blurry at best. Can someone confirm that this card will capture razor sharp HDMI output from a computer and the texts look sharp and images have proper color reproduction? Thanks!

A: Try changing the HDMI output Hertz on your computer. Chances are, you are outputting at 60 Hz and want to lower the output.

Q: 7. Any success using this inside of a T3 eGPU enclosure?

A: I have had perfect success with the Sonnet Technologies Echo Express SE IIIe 3 PCIe Slot, Thunderbolt 3 Expansion Chassis. Has worked perfectly!

Q: 8. I realize this might not perform as well as it would with the 3.0 interface, but Will this functionally operate (backward compatible) with a PCI Express 2.0 interface ? And If I'm using just 2... maybe 3 HDMI ports, would I likely be able to use it without issues if I'm just doing 1080p ??

A: Using a PCIe Gen 2 slot might limit your performance and may or may not work when trying to input or output multiple signals simultaneously.

Q: 9. Would this Capture Card allow for 4 inputs from separate Gaming Consoles and allow for switching between each HDMI feed without a delay within a Streaming Software such as OBS?

A: I can not honestly answer this as I don't use it for gaming. But I do use it with 4 cameras for live streaming and it switches between cameras without any delay.

Q: 10. Is there a user manual somewhere?

A: Yes, you can find it on the Blackmagic Design website. If you go into the DeckLink product specs page you can find the link in the Description section. You can also find it in the Support page under Latest Support Notes. It is also included when you install the Desktop Video driver for the card.
