This 5-stop, Bay 1 Heliopan ND Filter is a solid ND filter. This 1.5 optical density creates a darkening of the entire image, allowing you to photograph with a wider aperture or slower shutter speed without overexposing your image. By slowing your exposure time, you can create motion blur for special effects or to convey a sense of movement. Opening your iris allows you to create shallow depth of field, which can help isolate your subject.

The front and rear surfaces of the filter both feature a single anti-reflection coating. Each coating helps to increase light transmission by reducing reflections, scattered light, and ghosting. Additionally, they offer protection to the filter substrate while helping to keep the glass clean for longer than uncoated glass.

This Heliopan filter is constructed from Schott glass for increased optical clarity and color fidelity. It features a brass filter ring for durability as well as jamming prevention.

ND 1.5 filter darkens the image, allowing you to photograph with a longer shutter speed or wider aperture than normally required.

Providing a 5-stop exposure reduction, this filter allows you to control depth of field and convey movement more easily.

Single coatings on both the front and rear offer protection to the glass and help to improve light transmission and image quality.

Constructed from SCHOTT glass for optical clarity.

Brass filter ring helps to prevent jamming and provides additional strength.

Dual mounts with Bay 1 front filter mount permits combining with other filters.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I have the G-RAID Shuttle in 24tb. What replacement drive is recommended - is it just any internal drive of the same speed and capacity?

A: Any RAID compatible drive, 7200RPM and same capacity size. For example, WD Red Pro, or Seagate Iron Wolf Pro.

Q: 2. I have a Mac Pro (Mid 2010) running Yosemite. There are no Thunderbolt ports... Is this comparable in some form?

A: As Frankie B said, this will only run Thunderbolt, so it will not work for your particular Mac, however there are other versions with other connections that should work for you, either ethernet or usb 3.

Q: 3. does the fan run constantly?

A: The OWC ThunderBay 4 mini 4-Bay Thunderbolt 3 RAID Array and Drive Enclosure's fan operates according to a specific temperature regulation system. While the fan may occasionally shut off during periods of lower drive activity, it is programmed to restart automatically when the temperature increases, ensuring optimal cooling and performance for your drives.

Q: 4. Does anyone know if Big Sur will allow TRIM with this enclosure and a Samsung 870 QVO drive?

A: According to OWC, the OWC ThunderBay 4 mini has full TRIM support.

Q: 5. Is this device actually equipped with a Noctua fan as shown in the photos? Lots of complaints about fan noise.

A: The OWC ThunderBay 4 Mini uses a single 60mm fan for cooling. The manufacturer of the fan is not mentioned.

Q: 6. Does this unit have a standard 6GB/sec SAT bus speed (600 MB/s)? In other words, you cannot really realize Thunderbolt 3 speeds.

A: OWC have not specified the version of SATA used in the ThunderBay 4 Mini, so unfortunately it is not possible to definitively quantify the potential for SATA bottlenecking.

Q: 7. Do the drives come with this?

A: Yes. That is why it is labeled 20TB

Q: 8. Can I use this enclosure with a computer that only has USB 3(5 gbps), not Thunderbolt? I know I won't get all the speed advantages of Thunderbolt, just curious about backward compatibility with older machines.

A: The OWC ThunderBay 4 requires Thunderbolt 3 speeds to operate properly. Any type of port that is less capable can produce unexpected results.

Q: 9. You buy the 10tb and later want to swap the HD's with Lacie brand to =20tb is this possible?

A: Yes, this enclosure can support 20TB and you can later swap out the drives with larger drives.

Q: 10. Are the screws required to attach a drive included with the enclosure?

A: The OWC ThunderBay 4 mini 4-Bay Thunderbolt 3 RAID Array and Drive Enclosure includes required hardware to mount the drives.
