Q: 1. Does the Canon MT-24EX Macro Twin Lite Flash attach to (clip onto) this lens?

A: Yes It can be attached via use of Macrolite Adapter 67, I haven't experienced it yet.a href= http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/239656-USA/Canon_2357A002_MT_24EX_Macro_Twin_Lite.html target= _blank http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/239656-USA/Canon_2357A002_MT_24EX_Macro_Twin_Lite.html/a this page says itDirect attachmentEF 50mm f/2.5 Compact Macro, EF 100mm f/2.8 Macro (non-IS version), and MP-E 65mm Macrophoto lenses require no adapters. The EF 180mm f/3.5L Macro USM is usable via Macrolite Adapter 72C, and EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM via use of Macrolite Adapter 67. Or can be used with other lenses with the use of a matching Macrolite adapter.

Q: 2. I've been reading lots of reviews on Macro lenses in the 90-105mm focal length, and I seem to sense that in this focal length range the better it is to look for one with image stabilization. There'll be times when I can use a tripod and not need it, but I like to be able to handhold when I'm out hiking and don't want to lug a tripod with me. I usually stick with Canon lenses since I have an EOS 70D, but I also like affordability. What would be your recommendation between a Sigma macro lens with OS and a Tamron macro with VC in the focal length range I'm interested? I'm pretty sure I want to do more in the macro field as I look for new areas to try and think that I'd feel better about using a designated lens over a close-up lens.

A: Sigma and Tamrons macro lenses in this category are both honestly excellent options. I would have no issues having either in my own kit bag. Of the two I more commonly have used the Tamron in the past for my needs, as I like their sharpness and color rendition. The lens is well constructed and focuses quickly.

Q: 3. Hi, it says in specifications that the tripod collar is Optional Removable. Does that mean that a tripod collar fits on the lens, or that when you buy this lens you get one?

A: The lens does not come with a tripod collar. It is an optional accessory that will fit on the lens. http://bhpho.to/1lbW0Il

Q: 4. Can you use Arca swiss plates?? really right stuff foot plates and Kirk plates ?

A: The E-Image GH10L 100mm Pro Fluid Video Head takes only an E-Image GP1 Quick Release Plate (SKU: EIGP1) https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1046984-REG/e_image_gp1_camera_plate_for_gh03_06_08_10.html/qa An Arca swiss-style plate could be used with an adapter such as a Really Right Stuff B2-LLR-II Lever-Release Clamp (80mm) (SKU: RERELESECLMP) https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1301154-REG/really_right_stuff_b2_llr_ii_quick_release_c_lever_release_style_quick_release_clamp.html

Q: 5. Is the AF fast? (using 5D Mark III)

A: Yes, it is. I have used it for fashion shoots as well as for still-life photography and its focusing speed is very good.

Q: 6. How do I make the whole piece of whatever I am trying to take a picture of focused instead of just pieces of it? No focusing option.. Confused lol

A: When shooting close-ups with the Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 Macro USM Lens you should stop the lens down to f/16 to f/32. This will give you more depth of field. You should also focus 2/3rd back on your subject.

Q: 7. What is the weight of this head?

A: This head weighs 4.5 lbs.

Q: 8. How does this lens compare to the Canon 100mm macro? I'm interested in it for studio work.

A: I feel canon glass is better then Rokinon

Q: 9. This 100mm Macro lens sounds wonderful. Being that is it a non-zoom lens, How far back would one have to be to take a half-body shot of an adult; what about a full body shot of a toddler?

A: It depends on what kind of camera you are using. With a crop sensor camera this lens is 160mm, since the crop sensor conversion is 100 x 1.6. With a full frame since @100mm about 6 feet from the subject, with a crop sensor about 10 feet or so.

Q: 10. Can I attach the E-Image 100mm Plate onto this E-Image GH03 Fluid Head?

A: We are not aware of an E-Image 100mm Plate. This head uses the E-Image GP1 Quick Release Plate, which is B&H # EIGP1. If you have any additional questions feel free to email us directly at ask@bandh.com.
