Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will I still get 15mm wide angle when used on a full frame Sony A7riv?

A: Yes Venus Optics Laowa 15mm f/4 Macro Lens for Sony E is a full frame lens so the it will be 15mm on the Sony A7riv.

Q: 2. How many mm of shift/rise would you be able to get on an APS-C (Sony a6300)?

A: The shift is only compatible on crop frame cameras such as the A6300 and the lens offers +/- 6mm of vertical shift which can help correct for perspective when shooting objects such as buildings. Using the shift on a full frame would result in image vignetting.

Q: 3. Would this be the best macro option for the Sony a6500?

A: If you are looking for a wide angle macro lens for use on the Sony E-mount lens mount, then yes, the Venus Optics Laowa 15mm f/4 Macro Lens for Sony E would be my recommendation as the best option for your usage needs on the Sony Alpha a6500 Mirrorless Digital Camera.

Q: 4. Is this lens prone to let dust come on the sensor? I ask this because of the shift mecanism. Is the lens body well insulated?

A: The Venus Optics Laowa 15mm f/4 Macro Lens for Leica L It does not have the issue as zoom lenses have with dust. But it is not listed as weather sealed, which is pretty common on shift lenses.

Q: 5. could this lens be useful for landscape photography?

A: This lens is not recommended for landscape photography, it is excellent for macro photography with clear background, this company has a 15 mm f2 lens which is good and recommended for landscape photography

Q: 6. Could this lens work for real estate photography with a R7?

A: As the Venus Optics Laowa 10mm f/4 Cookie Lens for Canon RF (Black) is a rectilinear lens and it has super-low distortion, while it is a super-wide angle lens, yes, it should be compatible for your real estate usage needs.

Q: 7. How many degrees of rotation on the focus ring? Also is aperture ring stepless?

A: There is approx 100 degrees of rotation on the focus ring, and the aperture ring is stepless.

Q: 8. Will this lens work with the Nikon Z6 ?

A: Not natively, you would need to adapt this to the Z mount with a lens adapter like the Nikon FTZ Mount Adapter (https://bhpho.to/2PwU1lm)

Q: 9. hard to tell from the pictures, is the front of the lens flat so you can mount uv/vnd filters, etc?

A: Yes, you can put a UV in front of the lens with no problem. Maybe you have a bit of vignette depending on the thickness of the filter.

Q: 10. Will this lens work on medium format (Hasselblad X1D2...with and adapter of course) with reasonably little vignetting? Not expecting MF detail bit curious as a fun lens with character. I'm a big 9mm Laowa fan.

A: Hi--there would be obvious vignetting using a wide-angle lens like this on a camera with a larger than full-frame sensor like the Hasselblad X1D2.
