Q: 1. Elinchrom has a Sony - V.3.1 firmware available for the Transmitter Pro. Is this firmware compatible with this Rotolight EL-Skyport Transmitter?

A: Yes. According to Rotolight, the Elinchrom Sony V.3.1 firmware update for their Transmitter PRO is slco compatible for use with the the Rotolight Elinchrom EL-Skyport Transmitter Plus HS for Sony, B&H # RORLHSSTXS. Rotolight states they are the same unit, simply listed under a different manufacturer brand name. The Elinchrom Skyport Plus HS was renamed to the Elinchrom Skyport Transmitter PRO.

Q: 2. Will this work with the Sony a7r4?

A: This transmitter will work with the Sony A7R4.

Q: 3. Does HS work with the Panasonic G9?

A: This transmitter does allow Hi-Sync functions to work on Panasonic Lumix cameras such as the G9, when using the Rotolight Neo 2.

Q: 4. Is this the same item as the Elinchrom Transmitter PRO?

A: The Elinchrom Skyport Plus HS is optimized for the Rotolight. The Transmitter Pro is for the Elinchrom flash units.

Q: 5. If I get the Rotolight Elinchrom EL-Skyport Transmitter Plus HS for Canon, will it work with both Elinchrom lights as well as Rotolights enabled to work with the Elinchrom Skyport?

A: Yes, Rotolight Elinchrom EL-Skyport Transmitter Plus HS for Canon is capable of triggering both Rotolight and Elinchrom lamp heads with an EL-Skyport Receiver built into them.

Q: 6. Sorry if this was asked before. I currently have the non-Rotolight transmitter (EL19371 ) to fire Elinchrom Quadras from a Sony Camera. Now, I have added a Rotolight to the kit. Will the Rotolight version (RL-HSS-TX-S) work for both the Rotolight AND the Quadras? Or do I need to keep both versions to operate both lighting systems?

A: i believe there is a firmware update needed for the full control of the rotolights to be in the non rotolight transmitter.

Q: 7. Will the light accept lithium batteries ?

A: This light is powered by AA batteries. AA batteries that are Lithium Ion should work fine in this light.

Q: 8. Would this fit a Pentax K1?

A: Yes. But will have to be used in all manual mode as the sky-port does not accommodate the Pentax IDM metering system.

Q: 9. Will there be a Fujifilm version of this transmitter or can the nikon or canon version be used of fujifilm cameras?

A: According to a Facebook post from Elinchrom LTD posted last year, and according to a press release issued by Rotolight on August 31, 2017, Fujifilm will be their next supported brand and a a Skyport Plus HS transmitter for Fujifilm should be released this year. However, at this time, there has not been a press release or an announcement of a specific arrival date for the Skyport Plus HS transmitter for Fujifilm. As such, I would simply recommend periodically checking our website or checking both Elinchrom's or Rotolight's press release webpage for an announcement or update concerning the Skyport Plus HS transmitter for Fujifilm. If you wish, you may connect a Skyport Plus HS transmitter for Nikon or Canon on a Fujifilm camera, but you would not get TTL automatic exposure or Hi-Speed sync capabilities when using a Skyport Plus HS transmitter not designed for your camera brand. You would have to set the flash output power manually when using a non-dedicated Skyport Plus HS transmitter.

Q: 10. Is there a locking device for the ball head? Don't see one in the picture. Thanks.

A: The Rotolight Rotopod Tripod (B&H# ROLROTOPOD) does feature a knob (but it's not visible) that may be used to restrict the movement of the ball head so as to keep the light or camera on the tripod from moving. Here's a photo showing it from another angle: https://bhpho.to/46yLch1
