Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is it possible to use the BMD Zoom Demand with 3rd party zoom motors which have USB as an input? E.g. the DJI RS Focus Motor, Tilta Nucleus Nano (with an Macro-USB adapter), or SmallRig Receiver Motor 3263?

A: The Blackmagic Design Zoom Demand at this time only works connected to Black Magic cameras using compatible lenses. It would not work with any of the 3rd party gear listed.

Q: 2. Will this work with the URSA Broadcast G2 and the Fujinon LA16X8BRM-XB1A 2/3" 4K Pro Lens to control the zoom of the lens?

A: Yes, the Blackmagic Design Zoom Demand will be compatible with the Fujinon LA16X8BRM-XB1A 2/3" 4K Pro Lens.

Q: 3. I HAVE THIS CONNECTED TO MY BMD STUDIO CAMERA 4K PRO. should it at least get a light on the demand letting me know it has been recognized? or should any of the buttons be working? i'm getting nothing. how do i know if it's actually connected? is there a menu option for either of the demands? thanks for any help!

A: It is suggested that you daisy chain the focus and zoom demands with USB-C cables to the BMD Studio Camera. The controls on the Zoom Demand are mappable through the Camera settings. If nothing is happening, double check the camera power and the cables and connections. If still nothing contact B&H Sales.

Q: 4. With the new Studio 6k Pro announced, are there any EF mount lenses that will work with this?

A: The only EF lenses that are compatible with the Blackmagic Design Zoom Demand on the Blackmagic Design Studio Camera 6K Pro (EF Mount) are the Canon CN-E 18-80mm T4.4 COMPACT-SERVO Cinema Zoom Lens (EF Mount), B&H # CAE1880EF, and the Canon CN-E 70-200mm T4.4 Compact-Servo Cine Zoom Lens (EF Mount), B&H # CAE70200EF, at this time.

Q: 5. can you use the zoom demand if you are using the USB-c port for the URSA Mini -recorder already? Also does the Zoom demand come with a USB-C cable?

A: Yes you can use the Zoom Demand and record to external drives at the same time. The Zoom Demand is capable of doing this because it has an Input and an output for daisy chaining additional devices. However, it does not come with USB cables.

Q: 6. is it work with 70~200 mirrorless cameras like S1, A7iii or R6 ?(default lenses)

A: The Blackmagic Design Zoom Demand is only compatible with Blackmagic Design cameras.

Q: 7. What lenses do work with this device?

A: The zoom demand handle will work with MFT lenses with power zoom.

Q: 8. How do you create preset zoom/focus points? I have this controller connected to my BG2 camera and can assign zoom/focus presets to the various function buttons, however I can't fine a way to actually create the preset points.

A: The Blackmagic Design Zoom Demand (B&H# BLZD) has two buttons which may be programmed to particular zoom points. A power zoom B4 or PL lens is needed. A firmware update of your camera may also be necessary. To set a preset, hold one of the side buttons down on the Zoom Demand. Q: 9. Can I control this lens: Fujinon LA16x8BRM with Blackmagic zoom & focus on demand?

A: The Blackmagic Design Focus and Zoom demand will only work with the BM Studio 4k Pro and Plus cameras. The Fujinon LA16x8BRM lens is compatible with the URSA Broadcast and would use the following controls. https://bhpho.to/3BtPYP7 Link to URSA Broadcast kit -https://bhpho.to/353s4hc

Q: 10. Are plans for the zoom demand to work with other lenses? I have 3 BMD Zoom Demands on the way and can not find lenses to use them with.
