Q: 1. Allo this lens or nikon 35mm 1.8 Dx for my nikon D3500

A: Yes this lens is fully compatible with the Nikon D3500.

Q: 2. Just would like you to confirm that this lens fit a D5100?

A: Yes, this is a Sigma HSM type lens which has the required built-in motor to autofocus with the D5100 and similar Nikon cameras.

Q: 3. More specifically, will it work with my 7D Mark II?

A: While I do not see the beginning of your inquiry (all I see above is More specifically, will it work with my 7D Mark II? ), if you are referring to the Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 30mm f/3.5 Macro Lens (B&H # OL3035ED) listed above, then no, this lens is not compatible for use on the Canon EOS 7D Mark II DSLR camera, nor is there a lens adapter to connect the lens to the Canon 7D Mark II DSLR camera.

Q: 4. Is this the best choice for photographing flat artwork with my m4/3 Olympus?

A: Yes the Olympus 30mm macro is a good lens for photographing flat art.

Q: 5. I have sort of a general question. I'm a strictly natural light photographer. A fellow photographer friend said she would be worried that this wouldn't let in as much light as, say the 35mm Art, simply because the area of the front glass is not as large. I had never even thought of this consideration. Thoughts?

A: I have found that this lens works awesome in natural light. Outdoor face type portraits come out amazing.

Q: 6. I understand 1:1 but what does 1:1.25 mean is that less than 1:1 or more than 1:1?

A: It magnifies to more that 1:1, thus considerably more (25%) than life size. The only problem with that is, that at such magnification the object is .6 of an inch from the front element and very difficult to light without specialized flash. It also is a poor choice for anything alive, even if chilled to restrict movement. So one gets extra magnification over the Panasonic version, but one loses half a stop of speed at the same time.

Q: 7. does this lens have a crop factor when used on aps-c sized sensors or does it remain 30mm?

A: used on an aps-c reflex canon camera, this lens is equivalent to approximately a 48mm lens. plus it is a very good lens ^^

Q: 8. If I'm looking for a good prime that can be used well for both portrait and landscape, is this a good choice?

A: Yes. I am very happy with this lens. I have a bevy of lenses including Leica, Nikkor, Zeiss and so forth and the sharpness and contrast in this lens is exceptional. I have used it for both landscapes (especially multi-image stitches) and portraits. It's superb on a Lumix GH5 and GX8.

Q: 9. Is this lens compatible with the sony a6500? If not, how can I adapt it?

A: Thank you for your interest in Sigma products. The LA-EA4 is probably the best adapter to use OR you can buy the Sigma 30mm F1.4 DC DN Contemporary that comes in E-mount and doesn't need an adapter:https://a href= http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1234027-REG/sigma_302965_30mm_f_1_4_dc_dn.html target= _blank www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1234027-REG/sigma_302965_30mm_f_1_4_dc_dn.html/a

Q: 10. Will the Sigma 30mm f/1.4 DC HSM Art Lens for Canon work with my Canon Rebel T3i?

A: Yes
