The Realtree AP Snow TravelCoat Lens Cover for Nikon 500mm VR Lens from LensCoat is a 3.0mm thick shock-absorbing closed-cell neoprene lens cover that is custom tailored to fit with the lens hood in reverse position. It is designed to fully protect the lens when not in use, without the need for a more comprehensive lens case. It allows more valuable room for packing and storage. The coat simply slides over the lens and closes with a secure touch fastener. This version comes in white and is covered with a subtle pattern of leaves and branches to help camouflage the lens when shooting outdoors.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this lens maintain focus on a stationary object while zooming in or out in MANUAL focus mode?

A: I hadn't tried this until you posed the question so I got the lens out and gave it a whirl. As far as I'm concerned it does hold focus. Focusing at the 200mm length and zooming to 500 the focus was pretty close but focusing at 500 then zooming back and forth it held the focus perfectly so I have to say that my focus on the subject at 200mm was not that accurate. I have been impressed with the clarity of the photos I have taken with this lens so far and am very happy with the purchase. Well worth the money for a lens of that length.

Q: 2. I have a nikon Z6 with ftz adaptor, and want to buy this 200-500 beast, but not sure whether this auto focus will work good or not, as I already have nikon 60 mm micro and having some auto focus issue?

A: It will work very well with the Z6 and adapter.

Q: 3. Is this lens compatible with the Z50?

A: The lens uses the F-mount system whereas the Z50 uses the Z-mount system, and requires the Nikon FTZ adapter (https://bhpho.to/3jW4Tbk) to work. It does work well, and because the Z50 is a crop-factor, the lens will have an equivalent focal length of 300-750mm.

Q: 4. Does this lens work with D60?

A: Yes, this lens will work with the Nikon D60.

Q: 5. Is this comparable with a Nikon D5200

A: Yes this lens is compatible with the Nikon d5200.

Q: 6. Is there a good way to support this since it's so heavy when holding in your hands? Other than a tripod?

A: I would recommend this Cotton Carrier Steady Shot Camera Vest. It is designed to take the weight off your hands and neck and distributes it around your torso. Please take a look at the following link: https://bhpho.to/3Q47bEU

Q: 7. Can a teleconverter be used with this lens on a Z6ii?

A: Yes, you can attach the Nikon AF-S Teleconverter TC-20E III to Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 200-500mm f/5.6E ED VR Lens and the Nikon FTZ II Mount Adapter to the Nikon Z6 II Mirrorless Camera. The focus will turned slighly slower but it will provide consistent tracking and face detection.

Q: 8. D750 and this 200-500mm f5.6 ED VR and Nikon 2x teleconverter

A: Yes the following combination will work. we usually don't suggest 2x as it can be a bit much and cause unwanted artifacts. please feel free to review the following item as well. Nikon AF-S Teleconverter TC-17E II BH #NITC17E2 • MFR #2151 https://bhpho.to/351Ly5T

Q: 9. Dose this or the Tamron/Sigma 150-600 preform better?

A: I have used this lens in a variety of places. Always sharp focus and stablemostly hand held at all focal lengths. Using it on a D-2A and a 800 yes I would recommend it. Have some nice shots of high altitude aircraft at 8 miles distance. Sharp as a tack.

Q: 10. Is the tripod collar plastic or metal?

A: The Nikon AF-S 200-500 f/5.6E ED VR comes with a metal tripod collar.
