The Tiffen 58mm UV Haze 1 Wide Angle Mount Filter is a general use, clear filter that helps to absorb ultraviolet light and reduce the bluish cast of daylight. This filter is especially useful when photographing at high altitudes or around bodies of water. No additional coloration or contrast is provided, allowing you to pair this filter with others.

The UV filter is also useful as a general protective filter to leave on lenses at all times. Filters help to reduce dust and moisture from reaching your lens element and provide additional protection in case of drops or situations where scratching could occur.

This filter features a slimmer profile mounting ring, which is ideal for use with wide angle lenses. It does not have front filter threads for stacking filters.

Tiffen filters are made using ColorCore technology; a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass, grinding flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch, then mounting to precision metal rings.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Someone mentioned a hood in their review. I didn't see it in the specs. Is a hood included?

A: This model does not come with a hood.

Q: 2. Has anyone tried this lens on the Leica CL or Leica T with an adapter? I know certain lenses cannot be used on this camera because they protrude internally and touch the sensor

A: Unfortunately, you cannot attach a Sony E mount lens to a Leica L mount camera. However you can get this lens and adapter and that will do the trick. Voigtlander Super Wide-Heliar 15mm f/4.5 Aspherical III Lens B&H # VO1545V3. Leica M-Adapter L (Black) B&H # LEMATB.

Q: 3. how do I attach this lens to a GH5?

A: There are no lens adapters for mounting an E-mount lens like this to a Micro Four Thirds camera like the GH5.

Q: 4. What does 1000:1 "typical contrast ratio" mean? As opposed to constant?

A: Typical contrast ration is the manufacturer's way of saying the constant average contrast that the unit plays on a regular basis.

Q: 5. Will the X-Rite i1 display pro colormeter work with this monitor or do I need to purchase additional software?

A: Yes, it will work with this monitor without the need for anything extra.

Q: 6. Anyone know how this compares to the Venus Optics Laowa 15mm f/2 FE Zero-D Lens, aside form the f2 vs f4.5.?

A: The Venus Optics Laowa 15mm f/2 FE Zero-D Lens would have a shorter minimum focusing distance of 5.91" and a removable lens hood over this Voigtlander lens.

Q: 7. It states that EIZO offers optional HLG and PQ curves for the ColorEdge CS2740 as an upgrade. How does the upgrade work?

A: They are a factory install option. They also void the warranty.

Q: 8. Did anybody use it for astrophotography? How are the edges? Comma?

A: a good choice, I have been using this lens for astrophotography on my Sony a6000 (APS-C) and I have been very pleased with Milkyway shots at ISO12,800, f/4.5, and 20 seconds. I did consider the Rokinon 14 mm as it is cheaper and faster - but it is also longer and heavier. You also get a nice 10-point flair when a bright light is shining towards the lens

Q: 9. On Eizo website warranty is 5 years. Is it going to be the same if I buy on BH website?

A: Yes, we are an authorized EIZO reseller. It has a limited manufacturer's 5-year warranty.

Q: 10. Has anyone had the flicker or image burn-in issue that can happen with M1 and M2 Macs? Eizo told me it may or may not happen.

A: There is a known issue where M-series equipped Macs can cause a flickering or burn-in phenomenon when displaying certain image patterns on an external display. The exact cause of the issue is not known yet, but any monitor can be impacted by this issue, not just the EIZO ColorEdge CS2740 26.9" 16:9 Wide Gamut 4K IPS Monitor. If this phenomenon is exhibited when connected to an M-series Mac, the recommended solutions are to restart your Mac and to change the monitor's refresh rate or color profile within MacOS.
