A: Definitely focus by wire. No mechanical linkage. If you move the focus ring quickly it changes focus faster than if you move it slowly. So, the focus pull varies by how fast you turn the ring. Annoying - but it is a beautiful lens.

A: It will be a 30 mm crop sensor lens on your a6500. To get the same view on a full frame camera like the a7 series, you would use a 45 mm full frame lens. You should find the lens very sharp and useful on your 6500 although the colors would need to be increased slightly in post processing.
