Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I saw the question about teleconverters but I am unsatisfied by the question and the answer. To be specific - is this lens compatible with the Sony FE 2.0x Teleconverter? I would like to point out this: The Sony FE 2X teleconverter is only compatible with the Sony FE 70-200mm f/2.8 GM OSS lens at this time. - by Answered by Dennis A L. STAFF on Sep 29, 2016

A: Hi Lord, no. The Sony FE Teleconverter only supports these lenses: FE 70-200mm f/2.8 GM OSS, FE 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 GM OSS, E PZ 18-110mm f/4 G OSS. -Anthony

Q: 2. Does the tele-converter (either 1.4 or 2.0) result in any loss of sharpness.

A: I love my 100-400 Sony lens & like the 1.4 tele-converter as well. I use it mainly on bright days, but even yesterday when it was somewhat dark and snowy I captured some nice bird shots.

Q: 3. Which is the best teleconverter for this lens on a Sony A7iii? The 1.4x or the 2.0 x?

A: It is personal preference. With the 1.4x you lose 1 stop of light, with the 2x you lose 2 stops of light. If you don't need anything past 560mm then get the 1.4x. Otherwise you may need the 2x.

Q: 4. Is the manual focus ring tied to the autofocus system or is it a true manual focus with measured markings? Asking because my Olympus 75-300 just failed and is not even usable as a manual focus lens. Hope this is clear?

A: There are no measured markings on this lens.

Q: 5. Is anyone using this lens for wildlife and/or birds?

A: I am a birder and use this lens with my Panasonic micro four-thirds camera! Great clarity and sharp image. Lightweight as well. This is my second round of Panasonic micro four-thirds camera and lenses. Camera has enough options for ISO that this lens works most of the time. It is not a low light lens but still pretty versatile.

Q: 6. Can you reach out to Z-Cam and see if this lens will work with the E2?

A: If you are referring to the ZCE2M4, then yes this will mount and function with the camera no problem.

Q: 7. Does it zoom in/out smoothly with no catches during video?

A: No catch. Smooth. But for video, given the focal length range, any zooming without a rock steady tripod will deliver jittery footage. That said, image quality is beyond superb. Outstanding value for the money.

Q: 8. Sel20tc

A: I do not have the 2x but I have the 1.4x on backorder. The Sony Site says the 100-400 fe is compatible with both tele converters.

Q: 9. Does the lens package include a tripod collar?

A: Yes, the Leica Vario-Elmar-SL 100-400mm f/5-6.3 Lens (L-Mount) does include a tripod collar.

Q: 10. Is this lens too big for the lumix gx85?

A: Depends on what you think is big. Compared to the kit lens that is super tiny or the collapsible 35-100 f4-5.6, yes, it is huge. But compared to any 200-600 equivalent on other systems, it is small. Any super telephoto lens tends to be bigger.
