A: No. It has it's own light source and the little nozzle the which the readings are taken through actually touches the paper and shields out any ambient light. In fact that is what causes the unit not to slide freely and mar the paper. I use the single point reading method because of that.

A: On checking further on the Mfr's website, it is compatible up to OS 10.11. So it will work

A: I am sorry, you would not be able to use this to calibrate a dye sub printer. In fact I have not seen an option that would.

A: NOt the answer I think you want but we run the monitor setup separate from the print spyder and are happy with results. Did the full printer calibration (go slow on the reading pass). Calibrate screen on regular basis -- print check with new ink. So we use both spyder 's
