While those two factors can be helpful, this lens would have the electromagnetic diaphragm which is most compatible with the newer Nikon bodies.

A: This lens is fully compatible with the 50D, however with the 1.6x magnification factor, the 24mm wide angle focal (now about 38mm) is not sufficently wide for impressive landscapes.
