A: I don't know about plugging into to the TV but I have used this to plug into my computer to share headphones with several people. No added power required. It worked great to share the headphone signal with no perceptible loss of signal.

A: No. The Belkin Lightning Audio + Charge RockStar Adapter is not compatible for use to connect an external microphone to an iPhone and also charge the phone simultaneously. It is intended to be used for listening to audio with Lightning headphones and to facilitate charging at the same time. Unfortunately the Belkin Adapter does not support standalone microphones, but will work with the built-in mic included with Lightning equipped headphones.
