The Celestron 0.7x Reducer Lens features a custom 5-element optical design and is engineered to maintain the flat-field performance of the EdgeHD 1400 aplanatic Schmidt optical tube assembly (OTA). This reducer lens provides a substantial 5.75" back focus to accommodate an assortment of imaging accessories. It offers high index optical elements, including extra low dispersion, Lanthanum elements, which provide high contrast viewing while minimizing chromatic aberration. All air-to-glass surfaces are treated with multiple layers of anti-reflection coatings for maximum light transmission and color correction, and the interior of the housing has blackened edges to minimize internal reflection and further enhance image contrast.

The reducer lens features large-diameter lens elements and up to 60mm clear aperture, which ensure that the image circle remains at a generous 42mm for use with large CCD sensors. The mechanical design incorporates a computer-assisted CNC machined aluminum housing for precise spacing and alignment of optical elements and threaded metal covers on the lens assembly to protect your lens from dust and scratches.

  • 5-element optical layout designed specifically for the EdgeHD 14" Optical Tube Assembly to maintain its flat-field performance
  • The EdgeHD 0.7x lens provides generous back focus to accommodate additional accessories and a wide variety of cameras. Also allows use of existing EdgeHD T-adapters and other Celestron imaging accessories (sold separately)
  • Makes your EdgeHD 1400 Optical Tube Assembly one full F-Stop faster than f/11, reducing your exposure time by one-half to capture the same brightness of the object
  • Increase the field of view by 43%, which is better for capturing wide field images of larger galaxies and nebulae

  • The EdgeHD Reducer Lens uses rare earth Lanthanum glass elements for clear, high contrast viewing while minimizing chromatic aberration
  • All air-to-glass surfaces have multiple layers of coating for maximum light transmission and color correction
  • All lens elements have blackened edges to minimize internal reflection and maximize contrast

  • Threads directly onto the 3.25" threads of the EdgeHD Optical Tube, which reduces mechanical vignetting and allows for use with larger (full frame) sensors and Off-Axis Guiders
  • 60mm clear aperture lens optimized for a 42mm image circle for use with large CCD sensors

  • Computer-assisted CNC machined aluminum housing for precise spacing and alignment of optical elements
  • Threaded metal covers for both ends of the lens assembly to protect your lens from unwanted dust and scratches

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I just received my NexStar 6 Evolution and it appears there are several noticeable particles on the interior mirrors within the OTA. Is this common with new scopes or did I get a bad / poorly sealed version?

A: It is possible. The environment where there are assembled is not 100% dust free. You can return of e refund or exchange

Q: 2. Is possible to connect to 220V voltage?

A: he scope comes with an AC power supply with plugs for the US, EU, UK, and AU outlets.

Q: 3. Will a d7200 work with this telescope?

A: The Nikon D7200 will work with the NexStar 6SE. You will need (2) additional items. The Celestron f/6.3 Reducer/Corrector BH #CERC • MFR #94175 to mount on to the rear of the scope and the Celestron T-Mount SLR Camera Adapter for Nikon F-Mount BH #CETRN • MFR #93402 to mount on the D7600 camera body. Those (2) pieces will now screw together.

Q: 4. what accessories are needed to attach my Nikon d850 dSLR ? sku part #

A: You would need these 2 parts: https://bhpho.to/34iWqbt Plus: https://bhpho.to/3jozNZD

Q: 5. Can this device hold a smartphone horizontally?

A: You can probably clamp this Attachment Horizontally. However it might not hold. The Manufacturer just show's this working Vertically.

Q: 6. Can you manually adjust to view different objects in the sky, if the batteries were to die and you did not have any spares, for example?

A: Unfortunately no, it needs power to move the telescope. It uses 8 AA size batteries so if your first power source runs out, you can use standard batteries as a back up.

Q: 7. What is the maximum effective magnification? on the iOptron website I see 180 but I would expect around 300, from a 6" telescope. Can you please clarify?

A: The magnification is approximately 27X without an eyepiece. That now changes when you add the magnification of the eyepiece into the equation.

Q: 8. 2. I have a Celestron Nexstar 5SLT, and I wonder if I can purchase RC6 and use the same Tripod & Mount of the 5SLT, as my budget is limited (I am not going to add an SLR camear on the mount)? If not, please advise. on alterantive.

A: Yes this OTA has a Vixen Style Mount, so it will mount onto that Tripod set up.

Q: 9. Is it good for long exposure photos of nebulae and galaxies even though it doesn't have aGEM mount?

A: The NexStar Evolution is probably the closest One can get to a Equatorial mount type astrophotography, due to its 146mm diameter/180-tooth stainless steel worm wheels.

Q: 10. Hi I brought my daughter the telescope and have no idea how to set it up or even how to use it. The lady at the store said just look through the finder and that’s it. Well that’s not the case cause we can’t see anything and don’t know what we are doing. Can you help please?

A: Please contact our experts in Celestron's Technical Support department. Our representatives will be happy to answer any questions you may have, including how to get your new telescope set up properly.
