Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Hi guys, I was wondering if the canon 6D will let you know if the image is in focus when you look through the viewfinder. I'm not quite sure how to explain this but when I use a canon lens in manual focus, the camera flashes one of the 11 focus points in the view finder red to tell me that particular point is in focus. As the Rokinon is only manual focus I was wondering if any of the focus points on the screen will indicate something is in focus. Please let me know if you understand the question or need further explanations. Thanks,Jassi

A: The feature you are referring to is called Focus Confirmation . Unfortunately this particular lens does not have a focus confirm chip built inside it to communicate the confirmation of focus to the camera. Further there are not any lenses in this specific focal length that are manual focus only which do have it. Other focals with the focus confirm chip are available.

Q: 2. Can it do automatic aperture, or do you have to control the aperture manually? I'm considering using it with a Sony A7.

A: This is a manual lens. It does not have autofocus. And it does not have any electronic connections so the f/stops are controlled from the f/stop ring on the lens.

Q: 3. Would this lens be compatible with a Canon EOS M?

A: With this adapter: http://bhpho.to/1obDaB2 this lens will be compatible.

Q: 4. Can i use this on a nikon d3300? if so, is it worth it or the camera won't be able to get the most of the lense? (beginner trying to learn) thank you.

A: There are advantages and disadvantages. Because this lens has a 1.4 aperature it can work wonders in low light and of course star photography. When you use it with a d3300 you will get a crop sensor zoom effect. This means that the 24mm lens will actually act closer to a 50mm. I use my full frame d610 with this lens and its unbelievable the difference. I can capture so much of the sky and as a result I have scored some amazing Milky Way shots. The best part about buying this lens now though is that if you ever do upgrade to a full frame you will have it. You can also rent a full frame body at many places to play with your lens and see the difference.

Q: 5. Why is this lens more expensive than the Samyang version here? The description is exactly the same. https://a href= http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/868732-REG/Samyang_SY24M_C_24mm_f_1_4_ED_AS.html target= _blank www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/868732-REG/Samyang_SY24M_C_24mm_f_1_4_ED_AS.html/a

A: It is my understanding that the Samyang, Rokinon and Bower lenses are identical with the exception of the labeling. The price difference may have something to do with B&H's purchasing power and possible rebates from the manufacturers that they pass on to their customers. I dont know. I dont really understand B&H's pricing at times. Although I am a loyal customer and really dont buy any gear anywhere else, I have noticed price fluctuations up and down on the same item over the course of weeks and even days. Perhaps its availability of a particular item, not sure. Supply and demand so to say.I will say that whatever label you purchase this lens under it is super sharp. It is one of the best lenses for astro photos. I will caution though that because it is manual focus and the Canon version has no chip to confirm focus, it is difficult to focus under certain lighting conditions and a beginner may struggle with it. Add to that the minimal depth of field at f1.4 and one needs to be careful of where it's focused. I have the Nikon version with the chip and it helps in regard to focusing. Hope this helped.

Q: 6. What are the physical dimensions and weight of the lens including the E-mount adapter that ships with the lens? Are there any pictures of the lens with the E-mount adapter? I have read reviews that indicated there are QA issues with this lens IE: multiple reviewers noted improperly aligned elements leading to focus problems at infinity and having to return one or more bad copies before getting a good one - have you experienced many returns for that issue? Thanks!

A: The dimensions on the lens are approximately 3.27 x 4.86 (83 x 123.5 mm).Personally I have not seen many returns and we do not have any photos with the lens and the E mount. The lens that is sharper is by Sony but is not 24mm but 28mm. And it is not as fast. The Rokinon is f/1.4 and the Sony is f/2.

Q: 7. Is it a full frame lense?

A: Yes, I use it on a Sony a7S in full frame mode for astrophotography.

Q: 8. I have a Nikon D4300. I am in need of a wide angle lens to take some shots of a three story building, which do you suggest. Used is my first choice. thx in advance

A: Yes. Just be mindful that the following lens is a all manual lens

Q: 9. Does a Sony a6000 support this?

A: The Rokinon 24mm f/1.4 ED AS IF UMC Lens for Sony E Mount may be used on the Sony Alpha a6000 Mirrorless Digital Camera. Do note that this is a fully manual lens, so you will focus the lens manually, and the aperture of the lens must be set using the aperture ring built onto the lens, not via the command dial on your camera.

Q: 10. Is there any adapter to use this with full frame Sony cameras like A7?

A: Yes, one can choose an adapter with no electronic communication at all, since the Rokinon lens is a totally manual lens with manual F stops and manual focus. https://bhpho.to/2Iy8KKc
