Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this unit come with a power supply??

A: Yes, this unit comes with 2 power supplies: "2 x 5 VDC Power Adapter".

Q: 2. Does this introduce noticeable delay in the video?

A: No. It is amazingly fast.

Q: 3. Can I rotate the image on the top two TVs through this switch? I installed the top two TVs upside down.

A: The Smart-AVI 4K-Wall Video Wall Controller and Matrix does not support image flip or rotation.

Q: 4. Hi, does the Smart AVI need a PC to run alongside it? Or is it self contained?

A: This system is basically a PC in a black box and does not require connection to another computer. It will operate and stand alone.

Q: 5. Can you set any type of screen configuration, i.e., like a 1x4 screen set up or does it have to be 2x2. Can you get creative and set on screen up vertically and three horizontal and have one image across all 4?

A: This Smart-AVI is purely for 2x2. For 1x4 you'll need a controller like this: http://bhpho.to/1SIGky8

Q: 6. Does this require or work with a switch between xmitter & receiver? Would it work if I had a long-range 802.11n (Wifi) dedicated network connection (not shared, not hosting general network traffic. (Such as Ubiquity M2 Rocket) How would it handle a layer 3 switch or router in the middle?

A: Our network is built on gigabit managed switches feeding wall ports and wifi access points. When these transmitters and receivers are hooked up anywhere on the network, it basically disables wifi by swamping the access points with multicast packets. I have to create VLANs on the switches to separate the video traffic from everything else in order to keep wifi working. However, even without the VLANs, performance on the wired network seems ok while these things are running.

Q: 7. Will this play one input like a blue ray player to output 4 displays is this how this devise works?

A: This product from Smart-AVI is both a Video Wall Controller and a Matrix Switcher. It has 4 inputs and 4 outputs. When used as a Video Wall you can set it so one of the inputs is split across 4 screens set up as a 2x2 Video Wall. As a Matrix Switcher you can assign any input to go to any output. Since this product is HDCP compliant it will work with a Blu-Ray Player as well.

Q: 8. Can the RS-232 control and infrared control be used at the same time? I have experienced matrix switches where you start entering your from and to with infrared, and when a command comes in on RS232 it resets the infrared command and you have to start over.

A: The RS-232 and the IR can be controlled at the same time on the HDR-8x8-Plus.

Q: 9. Is this device rack-mountable?

A: Yes, the Smart-AVI HDR-8X8-PLUS-S 4K 8x8 HDMI Matrix Switch with IR Remote is rack-mountable.

Q: 10. I'm trying to move my cable box to a closet in another room. would like to install a IR remote eye to my tv in order to have no cable wires showing. is that possible?

A: This item may or may not work with your cable box. So that we may find a solution for you, please email us. provideo@a href= http://bhphotovideo.com target= _blank bhphotovideo.com./a
