Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can this output to the SDI in on a Blackmagic Web Presenter 4K. My computer has DisplayPort outs and DisplayPort to HDMI to SDI seems a bit indulgent when I could simply add a card and send SDI right from the computer.

A: If you are using software that supports the Blackmagic DeckLink Mini Monitor 4K, then you will be able to output to the Web Presenter. Blackmagic's website has a list of software the DeckLinks are compatible with.

Q: 2. Will this card function if installed in a mid-2010 Mac Pro running OSX 10.11 (El Capitan)?

A: No. System requirements for mac are as followed. Mac 11.1 Big Sur, Mac 12.0 Monterey or later.

Q: 3. Will this allow me to color grade HDR in Resolve through the HDMI to my HDR TV? Will I run into an important limitation that I should just upgrade to the next level?Windows 10TV - P65-C1

A: Yes. I use this exact card for HDR grading over the HDMI link. Note however, while my project is setup as 4K/59.94/10bit HDR, the output via this card is exactly half that (because it's limited to 4K/30), so I get 4K/29/97/10bit HDR to the grading monitor - this works perfectly well by skipping exactly every other frame on the grading monitor. The EOTF-2084 data gets through correctly, so the HDR luminance is correctly rendered to a HDR display. However, the thing to be aware of, the color space metadata is NOT sent by the card. Thus, to get the color correct you need to be able to set the color by the OSD on the monitor. I have used these cards with both Asus PA32UCX monitors, these work well and have a lot of color mode settings via the OSD to easily match to the color space you're using in Resolve and also the Asus PG27UQ, this can only be set to sRGB or "Wide Color" which is "Native Panel Gamut" this works as a good setting when you set the Resolve project to BT.2020. Note, with the PG27UQ you can't set the color space when in HDR mode, however, if you set the color space to "Wide" in SDR mode it carries over to HDR mode.

Q: 4. can I use this card along with a sdi to hdmi converter and use it as my primary and only display in OS X? Or is a 2nd display connected to the gpu necessary? Meaning will this only work in extended desktop mode?

A: I use it as a video monitor. As far as i know you can't use it as a primary monitor since there is only the videosignal given out via this card. To go 100% sure I would contact BMD support.

Q: 5. it compatible with PCIe 3.0 too?

A: Yes, the minimum PCIe requirement is PCIe gen2 so gen3 will work.

Q: 6. How many quick release plate are included?

A: One

Q: 7. If I had 2 of these cards in my computer, would I be able to output 1080p from one card and 4K from the other while editing?

A: The Blackmagic Design DeckLink Mini Monitor 4K can output at two different resolutions, so long as the software you are using to send the signals supports such a set up.

Q: 8. Will this card display a HD tv & HD monitor with hd footage?

A: Yes.

Q: 9. Will this allow me to output to an 8-bit HDMI 2560x1080 monitor?

A: Yes, according to BlackMagic Design’s website, the HDMI should be able to support 8-bit 2K output: HDMI Color Precision Up to 12-bit (Deep Color)

Q: 10. Does this card support 16:10 displays such as EIZO CG2420-BK?

A: Yes, the HDMI output of the Blackmagic Design DeckLink Mini Monitor 4K should work. The signal output will determine the formatting of the connected display.
