Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What would be"lost"if this lens is used on a APS-C system?

A: Nothing would be lost, but an equivalent APS-C lens would be considerably lighter.

Q: 2. How is this lens being handheld and how is the crop and sharpness on the long end?

A: This depends somewhat on your shooting situation. Please email us at photo@a href= http://bhphoto.com target= _blank bhphoto.com/a for in-depth assistance with your inquiry.

Q: 3. Under listed specs, only ASP-C is the compatible format. I thought FA lenses were native 35mm format. Is the information posted re compatibility accurate?

A: Yes, the Pentax HD PENTAX D FA* 70-200mm f/2.8 ED DC AW Lens would be compatible for use with full-frame cameras. As the lens was released in 2015 and Pentax's full-frame camera was not announced until 2016 (all previous DSLR cameras being APS-C cameras), our website did not indicate which Pentax lenses were full-frame compatible. It is listed under the Product Highlights on the lens' webpage, and our website will be updated soon listing which Pentax K-mount lenses would also offer full-frame coverage.

Q: 4. How was your experience for using it on Pentax 645z camera?

A: This is designed for Pentax DSLRs and will not be compatible with the 645z.

Q: 5. If the Pentax D FA 150-450mm is full-frame compatible, how come it only states APS-C on the specs on your B&H webpage for this lens? If it is an error, you might want to fix it as you are probably losing potential sales to K-1 owners.

A: Yes, this is full-frame compatible -- I use it with my K-1. It is a wonderful lens, although a little on the heavy side.

Q: 6. What is part number for replacement lens cap?

A: Ask Pentax. It will also work with any 82mm lens caps and should be much cheaper

Q: 7. I really love my K3 and do pet photography with it. I need a good zoom that's quick on AF. The Pentax smc PENTAX-DA* 50-135mm f/2.8 ED (IF) SDM Lens just doesn't autofocus quickly enough. The web page for this new Pentax 70-200 says The Quick-Shift Focus System allows you to first use autofocus to acquire general focus on a subject, then instantly refine your focus position manually without the need for an AF/MF selector. Is this Pentax again not being able to pinpoint focus the way Canon, Nikon, Tamron and Sigma seem capable of, or do we have a genuine capability here for instant lock on moving objects equivalent to say the Tamron 70-200?

A: The new 70-200 is a fast lens but so is the 50-135mm lens. Both are f/2.8 which helps the focus speed. But the cameras focus system does have a very large part to how fast and accurate it can focus.Just to compare the K-3 has 27 Phase Detection autofocus points and the Nikon D7200 has 51 Phase Detection points and 15 cross-type focus points. So in most cases the Nikon Model will focus faster and more accurate.

Q: 8. Is this a variable aperture lens? Meaning will the aperture change when I zoom in or out?

A: The Pentax HD PENTAX D FA* 70-200mm f/2.8 ED DC AW Lens is a constant aperture lens, not a variable aperture lens.

Q: 9. Is this compatible with a K100D?

A: Yes, it is compatible.

Q: 10. Can it be used with the K-5?

A: Yes, this lens is compatible with the K5.
