Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. This camera support Anamorphic lens like a Red ( God bless Red ) Komodo or still oriented to prosumer market ?

A: Without reading too deep into it, the sensor is an Alpha sensor and it probably lands more in line with what you called the "prosumer market". There are workarounds that will get you very fine anamorphic results, but none that don't require some mathematical considerations by the user to achieve the best possible anamorphic capture.

Q: 2. Does it provide HDMI output while recording?

A: yes the HDMI output is active during internal recording

Q: 3. Full Frame?

A: yes this will be a FF sensor camera

Q: 4. Does camera have the same IR issue as previous Sony cameras? I noticed it in a video where it was compared to a Canon camera.

A: Unfortunately, as of this writing, we have not received any specimens of the camera for testing and would recommend that you propose your inquiry in a forum that has bench tested the unit.

Q: 5. Can you record simultaneously onto both an internal card and externally with Shogun 7? Or does it have to be one or the other

A: You are able to record both internally and externally simultaneously.

Q: 6. Is it possible to get files direct from the FX6 via USB cable rather than using a CF Express card reader?

A: NO it is Not, the card must be transferred in t a reader

Q: 7. What motorized zoom lenses /full frame) working with FX6 powerzoom feature?

A: Sony has 2 full-frame PZ lenses, the 28-136G F/4 PZ (https://bhpho.to/2JzovER) and the newly released Cine 16-35 T3.1 PZ (https://bhpho.to/3losO33).

Q: 8. Is it actually possible to see a clear sharp image on the view finder (unlike the FS5 which is useless)?

A: Unfortunately, the manufacturer has not provided us with any demo models for us to verify your inquiry and the camera will not be available until at least Dec. 15 according to the provided ETA timeline.

Q: 9. If I record externally to an Atomos Ninja V via HDMI will I experience any compromises (or benefits) to image quality ( resolution, available frame rates, bit depth, sub sampling, compression, etc) versus recording internally? I know that the RAW output is only available via SDI output to Shogun 7 - I’m simply asking about the Ninja V as an alternative to internal recording.

A: When recording externally, you would gain the opportunity to record in ProRes or DNx in 10 bit 4.2.2 and depending on the nature of your project and the software you are using for editing and processing your footage, that may be a desirable option. However, the internal XAVC-I 4:2:2 10-Bit codec is a very viable and comparable alternative, so it's really up to the user's needs and preferences.

Q: 10. How can such a small sensor create a truly cinematic image?

A: This uses a full-frame sensor, which is larger than the standard Super35 used in a lot of cinema cameras.
