This is from a Sony lens designer. Therefore it appears to be focus by wire and that the focus ring is telling the motor where to go and once you set the focus, the lens will maintain the focus electronically. Sony has addressed many cine issues such as breathing, parfocal focus, and axial shift all in a constant aperture lens with excellent zoom range for its intended camera for an excellent price.
