Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this work with the Rebel T7

A: The EF 24-105mm lens is compatible with the Canon Rebel T7.

Q: 2. Even though not mentioned, can this lens be defined as a true apochromatic lens? (not the Sigma definition, but the Zeiss, Cosina or Switar definition??

A: No, Nikon does not list it as a true apochromatic lens.

Q: 3. Will This Lens work with a Canon 60D body ?

A: Yes it would work with APSC and full frame cameras. Canon 60d is a APSC sensor camera and hence it will work.

Q: 4. can i use this with T5i

A: Yes you can. The Canon EOS Rebel cameras are all compatible with any autofocus lenses made by Canon for the EOS system or by other manufacturers for the EOS system.

Q: 5. How does the EF 24-105 compare with the EF-S 18-200 as to sharpness and image quality?

A: The Canon 24-105mm f/4L EF IS USM lens would be slightly sharper compared to the Canon 18-200mm f-3.5-5.6 IS lens. However, it would have much better performance in regards to optical distortion and vignetting performance, and is slightly better in regards to chromatic aberration performance. As such, the Canon 24-105mm f/4L EF IS USM lens would have overall better optical quality and performance compared to the Canon 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 EF IS lens.

Q: 6. I am interested in 24-105 to use for video with C100 mark II. Cannot decide if I go with this or 24-105mm STM. Constant F4 is not important but important is video quality, smooth & silent autofocus and IS. Suppose if I can afford L series USM lens, what would be the advice?

A: Both the 24-105mm F/4 and 24-105mm STM will give you Image Stabilization. The STM lens, B&H # CA2410535IS, will have the better performance for Autofocus, as that is the specific purpose of STM lenses. However the F4 is an L lens, which is Canon's highest quality of photography lenses. It will give you a better overall image.

Q: 7. I was wondering if this lens is weather sealed so that I can take photos in less then ideal conditions light rain or in the winter time with those big wet snow flakes coming down at a fast pace. Thank You!

A: you can buy a cover to protect it.

Q: 8. I have 2 versions of this lens and the newest version when extended to 105mm seems loose. You can physically move the barrel up and down (slightly). Does not seem right and lens is only a few years old. Seems like weather sealing etc. is compromised. Anyone else experience this?

A: All camera gear no matter how excellent or expensive can be a candidate for servicing. We suggest finding a qualified lens technician for a lens tune up.

Q: 9. I have a 50D Canon, will this lens work for general and landscape photography. Or can you suggest another lens.

A: This lens is fully compatible with the 50D, however with the 1.6x magnification factor, the 24mm wide angle focal (now about 38mm) is not sufficently wide for impressive landscapes. For the 50D I would recommend Canon's 17-55mm f2.8 IS lens, which would give you the wide angle aspect for landscapes and provide you with a nice portrait focal and a fast/constant f2.8 aperture.
