Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can I use this camera as an over head table top camera for filming cooking videos?

A: Certainly! The wide-angle lens and five field-of-view settings will make it easy to frame the perfect shot.

Q: 2. Is there a shorter center column available that can be used with these legs?

A: I'm afraid that we do not have a shorter center column available for this tripod.

Q: 3. What is the counter weight for this head? I have a DSLR that weighs about 4.5 pounds and this head flips forward with the plate pulled all the way back.

A: While the head inside the Manfrotto MVMXPRO500US XPRO Aluminum Video Monopod does have a built-in counterbalance, it is an automatic counterbalance mechanism; the counterbalance is not adjustable. That being said, the monopod and head is able to support a camera/camcorder with a combined weight of up to 11 lb (5 kg) maximum.

Q: 4. does it come with a slide plate?

A: yes

Q: 5. Can you lock the base to prevent panning?

A: No, panning is always possible. If you engage the lock, the monopod will no longer swivel sideways, but it will still pan, which in my opinion is a good thing. The joint is not so soft that it would happen accidentally. Remember, you still have to hold on to your camera anyways. You can never leave it unattended, since the little legs are so tiny.

Q: 6. will this work with a canon 5d mark IV?

A: Yes it will work with pretty much any DSLR

Q: 7. Two questions - Can I leave this powered on through an external power source and export live video via the HDMI to a monitor?

A: The Zoom Q8n-4K Handy Video Recorder can be powered by an AC adapter to be left on; however the HDMI output on the camera is not clean, meaning the recording overlays will be present in the image and may not be ideal for streaming live video. If you are just monitoring the capture, then the HDMI feed would be suitable.

Q: 8. Can I use the Nikon d850 and Nikon PF 500mm lens for wildlife video -particularly birds flitting about. Is it good for quick panning for getting birds on the fly?

A: Yes the Manfrotto MVMXPRO500US XPRO Aluminum Video Monopod can support up to 17 pounds and the integrated FLUIDTECH base utilizes a "3D" fluid cartridge which facilitates smooth pans and tilts from a single connection point.

Q: 9. Would this work as a dash Cam?

A: Unfortunately no. This camcorder will not have a Dashcam feature.

Q: 10. Does this Monopod stand by itself with a camera on it?

A: Short answer: no. If you want to be able to set up a camera and leave it, get a small tripod. A monopod's main function is to offer a third point of stabilization for the operator. I've used this monopod with small mirrorless stills cameras up to large RED DSMC setups. It's one of my favorite monopods - super sturdy and the locking foot is an excellent added bonus for both stability and making camera moves. But I would NEVER leave a camera unattended. Expertly balanced and with a small camera body, yes, it can stand on its own in a still room on an even surface, but just as other responders have said - even the gentlest of breezes, or really even a sneeze, could prove disastrous.
