The 105mm Tiffen Day for Night Monochrome Glass Filter is an effect that makes a scene recorded in daylight appear as if it were taken at twilight.

This is usually accomplished by the use of a filter that both underexposes by about two stops, and can also produce a bluish color overcast. Lighting, contrast, and other factors contribute to the reality of this effect. Day for night filters are a cost-effective alternative to night shooting where overtime charges may apply to cast, crew and rental equipment of lighting gear.

Tiffen's ColorCore glass is produced through a process that entails permanently laminating the filter material in between two pieces of optical glass that are ground flat to tolerances of a ten-thousandth of an inch, then mounting them in precision aluminum rings.

Industry standard special effect filter

Unique visual effect makes this a highly prized filter for certain scenarios

Tiffen's ColorCore glass is sealed between two optical glass sheets. In this way, Tiffen can better control the various densities of their filters and thereby create more exact degrees of filtration. This process makes for greater accuracy of color as opposed to glass that is simply dyed and become subject to deviation during the dye process

Tiffen, a leader in the filter industry, proudly makes its filters in the USA and backs up its products with a solid 10-year warranty

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Why does this lens exist in 2020?

A: A reasonably priced way to make your R system camera functional with a small, light weight, walk around zoom lens and a very useful focal length range.

Q: 2. can i use this lens on canon 77d ?

A: Yes, the Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM Lens, B&H # CA241054LIS, would be compatible for use with the Canon EOS 77D DSLR camera.

Q: 3. I shoot weddings so it would be helpful to have a lower f-stop for indoor shooting. But with my 6D, I can easily crank up my iso a touch to compensate. Not sure I want to get the 24-70 since I already have the 24-105. What do you think?

A: Cranking up the ISO introduces noise. Not good for selling images to brides and moms. The 24-70 2:8 L series is great for tight quarters and low light while also great for capturing wide angle view of the church or dance with natural light.

Q: 4. What is this lens used for

A: This lens is for general photography ranging from scenic's to portraits and everything in between.

Q: 5. Which is better the canon 24-105 or the sigma 24-105 ?

A: I have both a Canon and Sigma lens for my Canon EOS 70D. From my point of view the Canon lens gives better quality images.

Q: 6. Will this lens work canon5D2 ?

A: I just bought both and have used them together and it works great.

Q: 7. Anyone use this on a Sony FS7? If so what has been your experience?

A: It's not out yet.

Q: 8. I have a 50D Canon, will this lens work for general and landscape photography. Or can you suggest another lens.

A: This lens is fully compatible with the 50D, however with the 1.6x magnification factor, the 24mm wide angle focal (now about 38mm) is not sufficently wide for impressive landscapes. For the 50D I would recommend Canon's 17-55mm f2.8 IS lens, which would give you the wide angle aspect for landscapes and provide you with a nice portrait focal and a fast/constant f2.8 aperture. See the link below for details on the lens:http://bhpho.to/1eZavst

Q: 9. Does the replace the Nikon 135mm?

A: The Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 105mm f/1.4E ED Lens is a similar focal length to the Nikon 135mm lens; it doesn't replace it, it's just a different focal length.

Q: 10. Any comparison between Nikon 105mm F/1.4 vs Nikon 85mm f/18G -- which one is better as a portrait lens?

A: Both the AF-S 85mm f/1.8G and this AF-S 105mm f/1.4E ED are very sharp. With the 105mm, you would get the slightly longer focal length and 2/3 of a stop brighter maximum aperture. While those two factors can be helpful, this lens would have the electromagnetic diaphragm which is most compatible with the newer Nikon bodies.
