The 4.5" round Tiffen Day for Night Monochrome Glass Filter is an effect that makes a scene recorded in daylight appear as if it were taken at twilight.

This is usually accomplished by the use of a filter that both underexposes by about two stops, and can also produce a bluish color overcast. Lighting, contrast, and other factors contribute to the reality of this effect. Day for night filters are a cost-effective alternative to night shooting where overtime charges may apply to cast, crew and rental equipment of lighting gear.

Tiffen's ColorCore glass is produced through a process that entails permanently laminating the filter material in between two pieces of optical glass that are ground flat to tolerances of a ten-thousandth of an inch, then mounting them in precision aluminum rings.

Industry standard special effect filter

Unique visual effect makes this a highly prized filter for certain scenarios

Tiffen's ColorCore glass is sealed between two optical glass sheets. In this way, Tiffen can better control the various densities of their filters and thereby create more exact degrees of filtration. This process makes for greater accuracy of color as opposed to glass that is simply dyed and become subject to deviation during the dye process

Tiffen, a leader in the filter industry, proudly makes its filters in the USA and backs up its products with a solid 10-year warranty

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can you use this as a general purpose wide angle lens in addition to doing macro work with it?

A: No. It has a max focal distance of only about an inch.

Q: 2. Do you think the Mitakon Zhongyi 20mm f/2 4.5x Super Macro lens would work on photographing jewelry, rings and such or is it too close?

A: Magnification Range: 4.5x to 4x would probably be a bit much for jewelry. I would highly suggest the 100mm macro lens by canon, please review the two following lens Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 Macro USM Lens https://bhpho.to/3yw7YoX Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM Lens https://bhpho.to/38rlvDC

Q: 3. Are there filters for this lens?

A: Traditional filters are not available for this lens because of the fisheye nature properties of this lens. Instead, a filter slot is located in the lens mounting opening. Third-party filter sheets can be cut to fit this filter slot (29mm x 27mm with a 5mm x 5mm notch cut in each corner).

Q: 4. Does this 70-300mm zoom work with the (2) Lumix doublers, like the DMW-STC20 Lumix S 2x Teleconverter? Thanks

A: I'm sorry, no, the converters only work with the Lumix S PRO 70-200mm f/4 O.I.S. and the Lumix S PRO 70-200mm f/2.8 O.I.S.

Q: 5. This lenses works on NIKON D80 body?

Q: 7. Will this lens work with Sony a 77II

A: The a77ii does have A mount and that lens is also A mount, so they are compatible with each other.

Q: 8. I need to photograph something that is 4.5mm across with a Canon 700D (APS-C). Will this lens cope?

A: Yes, this Mitakon Zhongyi 20mm f/2 4.5x Super Macro Lens for Canon EF will be a 32 mm equivalent on a Canon 700D APS-C DSLR camera and it will be ideal in your case.

Q: 9. Will this lens work with an aps-c camera? sony a55v

A: Yes the sensor size will crop the image the lens captures so there may be a small difference between the image you see in the view finder and the image the sensor captures.

Q: 10. Isn't 20mm about .8 inch? That is, is this lens focused by moving it to it's only focal distance?

A: It appears to be the case but I've only tried the lens once. It has no dial to focus, just one for aperture and one for the strength of the macro. It is really close up and amazing but probably needs to be on a tripod or use a high shutter speed. I was moving too much so my first tries weren't as sharp as I'd like but I can see great potential with this lens.
