Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. How’s the chromatic aberration on this lens when opened all the way up? I had the old EF 50mm 1.2 and got rid of it because it was so noticeable shooting anything below a 2.8. Mainly shooting video

A: From our findings, there is little to no chromatic aberration on this lens.

Q: 2. Can I still use the lens cap with a 43mm filter attached to this lens?

A: That would depend on the filter. If the filter you own or plan to use has 43mm front filter threads on the front of the filter ring, then yes, the Canon E-43 43mm Lens Cap included with the purchase of the Canon RF 50mm f/1.8 STM Lens would fit on the front of your filter.

Q: 3. How fast is the autofocus on this? Could it be used for sports for instance in a low light gym?

A: The autofocus on the RF 50mm f/1.2L USM Lens is quite fast. Depending on how close you are to the action and the sensor type of your Canon R series camera, it could be used for shooting sports in a low light setting.

Q: 4. This lens is working for canon dslr full frame?

A: This lens is specific to the Canon EOS R/RP mirrorless full frame cameras with an RF mount. An EF mount lenses to fit a Canon full frame DSLR would be the Canon EF 85mm f/1.2L II USM Lens, B&H # CA8512LEF2. https://bhpho.to/2xdXAou

Q: 5. How's work with EOS RP?

A: This lens works very well on the RP.

Q: 6. What is the difference between canon RF 85f1.2 DS and RF85f1.2

A: The DS model would offer de-focus smoothing for soft bokeh.

Q: 7. Does this come with a hood?

A: Yes , Canon ET-89 Lens Hood

Q: 8. has anyone attempted to try this lens with a Sony A7III and an adapter?

A: We are not aware of an adapter that allows you to use a Canon RF lens on a Sony E-Mount camera.

Q: 9. Is the focusing fast enough for indoor sports like basketball or volleyball paired with the R3 body?

A: Yes, the Canon RF 85mm f/1.2 L USM Lens on the Canon EOS R3 Mirrorless Camera is great for sports photography. The high image quality and bright aperture of f/1.2 excels in difficult lighting conditions.

Q: 10. What is the best lens filter for RF 50mm 1.2?

A: Canon RF 50mm f/1.2L USM Lens is one of Canon superiors lenses. Canon makes their own UV protecting filters which match well with their L-series lenses optical quality. I will also recommend B+W MRC Nano and Hoya HD glass filters if you are interested on weather seal UV protecting filters.
