Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. will a nikon battery pack SD-9 work on the Nissan MF-18 ring flash?

A: Unfortunately, the Nikon SD-9 Battery Pack is not compatible for use with the Nissin MF18 Macro Ring Flash for Nikon. The port of the Nissin MF18 Macro Ring Flash for Nikon is the port used by Canon external battery packs. I would instead recommend the Nissin PS 8 Power Pack for Canon Flashes, B&H # NINDPS8C, and the Nissin NPC300C Power Cord for Canon Flash Units, B&H # NINPC300C, for your usage needs.

Q: 2. Just wondering if this will work on my Pentax K3ii ?

A: No, this flash is meant for a Sony camera.

Q: 3. Is it compatible with Nikon Z6/Z7? The current Nissin_Compatibility_Chart_2020-1_Jan_up.pdf states: "No information available. To be confirmed." But maybe someone tested that?

A: As of now-7/2/20, no information is listed. I would say that most of the other flashes are compatible so it would follow that the Z6/Z7 would be.

Q: 4. Can you trigger the modelling light from a Sony camera button?

A: According to the user manual, you may only activate the modeling light via the SET button and not via a camera function/button. 1. To switch on the modeling LED lamps, press set for 2 seconds. 2. The LED lamps switch off temporarily when the flash fires, then switch on again for the next shoot. The icon (light bulb) is indicated on the screen. 3. To switch off the modeling LED lamps, press set for 2 seconds.

Q: 5. Is this compatible with the Sony fe 90 f2.8 macro lens?

A: Yes, the Nissin MF18 Macro Ring Flash for Sony is compatible with the Sony FE 90mm f/2.8 Macro G OSS Lens.

Q: 6. Since some Canon accessories work with Fujifilm cameras, will the Canon version fully work with Fujifilm X-T3/4 cameras?

A: The Nissin MF18 Macro Ring Flash for Canon has not been tested on the Fujfilim X-t3 or x-t4. It should work but only with the flash set to manual. It will not work in TTL or any other mode.

Q: 7. How does this unit attach to a macro lens. Other companies with similar product spring load onto a retaining ring. Is this the same with this product?

A: To attach the Nissin MF18 Macro Flash for Nikon to a lens, you attach an appropriately sized adapter ring to the front thread of the lens, and attach the flash head to the adapter. There are then four mounting tabs on the inside of the flash head that you need to press down into the grooves of the adapter ring.

Q: 8. Please forgive my bad information about the adapter. I meant to ask about the hot shoe. and it not needing the old style Sony/Minolta style adapter?

A: Hi, this flash is compatible with the Sony Multi Interface hot shoe found on Sony mirrorless cameras like the A7 III and a6600, no adapter needed.

Q: 9. will this RFi Speed Ring fit a D2?

A: Yes this RFI ring will fit and work on a D2 Profoto light. You will need to use it with an RFI softbox.

Q: 10. if i want use D1 & D2 with Profoto Softbox RFi 5' Octa i should buy RFI SPEED RING ?????
