Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is this a v mount or gold mount?

A: This battery is just as powerful as smaller V mount and Gold Mount batteries but it does not have a V Mount or a Gold Mount. instead it powers devices and is recharged via the P-Taps. This battery is designed for smaller cameras (mirrorless, DSLR, or smaller cinema cameras like the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema cameras) that do not natively use V-Mounts or Gold Mounts. It is not compatible with any V-Mount or Gold Mount chargers, Battery plates, etc.

Q: 2. Will this gimbal head on a peak design tripod properly support a Canon R5 with RF 100-500L?

A: Yes, the Wimberley WH-200 Gimbal Tripod Head II with Quick Release Base can be connected to the Peak Design Carbon Fiber Travel Tripod if you use the Peak Design Universal Head Adapter. Please review the following link to view this adapter: https://bhpho.to/2S3MU7g The gimbal will support the weight of the camera and lens; please be aware that the release plate is not included by Wimberley. You can get a universal arca long plate with anti-twist flenge, or replace the foot on your lenses. Wimberly makes the following foot replacement for the Canon 100-500mm RF lens: https://bhpho.to/3VWo1vB

Q: 3. Hi, Could you please tell me what makes this gimbal so expensive over others? Like material, ease of use or anything to justify the price. Thanks.

A: I don't know why this is so expensive. My colleagues recommended it because of easy to use, durability, and reliability. It is extremely stable for a big lens and heavy bodied camera. Wonderful. Don't waste your time with anything else. You images could suffer. Do it right the first time. Just my opinion.

Q: 4. I have a bogen 3033 tripod with a 3047 head on it will the Wimberly tripod head fit on this tripod and which quick release plate do I need? thanks

A: The Wimberly tripod head fits on a standard tripod legs which I think your bogey 3033 is. I have a quick release plate that is a bit longer than the base of the tripod collar on my Pentax 560 lens. This tripod head is amazing to use to photograph wildlife with a long lens, easy to position and move to get the shot you want wile keeping the lens steady.

Q: 5. Hi, everyone!First of all, sorry for my english.Last year, I made the acquisition of a Sigma 120-300 Sport lens and I've been using it until now with a Davis & Sanford Carbonlite Transporter tripod and its FZ10 head. The thing is the FZ10 head doesn't seem to be the best head for such a heavy lens.I actually experienced its limits just last sunday to monday night, during the moon eclipse. So I've been searching the web a little bit since yesterday and it appears the Wimberley gimbal head could be a perfect choice.I consider to add a Wimberley QR plate to it but I have not determined yet which one between P40 and P50.My question is: does anyone know if the Wimberley gimbal head will be compatible with my actual D&S tripod (instead of the FZ10 head)? Thanks alot for your forthcoming help.

A: The Wimberley is a fantastic head, and would be a great option for use with heavy super telephoto lenses such as the Sigma 120-300mm f/2.8. That being said, the combined weight of the Wimberley head and Sigma lens (not including a camera) is about 11.5 pounds. The load capacity of the Davis and Sanford Carbonite Transporter appears to be 12 lbs. So just with the lens and head, you would already be close to the max load capacity of the tripod. This wouldnt be the most stable or secure of set-ups. If you are looking for some more in depth advice on heads and legs, I would suggest sending an email to our Photo Department. They would be more than happy to make recommendations for a set up that would best suit your equipment and needs. Askphoto@a href= http://bhphoto.com target= _blank bhphoto.com/a

Q: 6. I'm using a Gitzo G-1173-14B plate with an RF100-500mm. Can I use this plate with the WH-200?

A: The Gitzo G-1173-14B Quick Release Plate is not standard arca. However, the Wimberley WH-200 Gimbal Tripod Head II with Quick Release Base is compatible with standard arca plates. The following option would be excellent for your Canon RF 100-500mm f/4.5-7.1 L IS USM Lens foot: https://bhpho.to/45MwimT

Q: 7. Can an FX3 be powered by the Titon base from the USB output to the USB-C input of the camera?

A: The USB output of the Anton Bauer Titon base only provides 5V 2A (10W) of output, which is likely not powerful enough to sustain the FX3, or any other Sony camera. Sony recommends a 9V 3A (27W) of USB power to sustain the camera over longer shoots. That being said, the dummy battery used by the Titon is exactly the one you need for the PD, but if you're running two cameras off it, it likely will not be able to sustain one of them via USB.

Q: 8. What is the material this head is made from??? Most of the competitors show that info, but is unavailable on this page in B and H. Thank you.

A: I think it is Cast Aluminum. It feels like steel, but It doesn't seam to feel heavy enough to be steel, perhaps just very thick cast Aluminum on the curved arm/base, and milled other parts. It is built like a tank, and yet has precision at the moving points, bearings, release, knobs. Very smooth and reliable action on vertical and horizontal swing action. You get what you pay for!

Q: 9. What other accessory do I need besides...I got a canon 100 to 400mm lenses with 1.6 X and will get the 600mm down on the road. Thax

A: When I ordered the WH-200, I also ordered two quick release plates (used to attach the camera lens collar to the tripod head). Plates: P50, item#WIQRPP50. Two plates so I have one for the 100-400mm lens, and one for a 300mm F2.8 lens. Of course, you need a tripod to attach the WH-200 to.

Q: 10. Will this plate work properly with the vertical portion from the RRS 1DX Mark II?

A: No, the Really Right Stuff Base Plate for Canon EOS-1D X Mark III would not work with the vertical portion of the Really Right Stuff B1DXMkII-L Set L-Plate for Canon 1D X and 1D X Mark II. The shape of the plate has changed quite a bit, and it would not work.
