Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. For a workflow with an M1 Mac and an Asus PA329c, how is this different from having the monitor plugged via USBc and having Resolve displaying the picture with Clean Feed Output?

A: When you have your monitor connected directly to your computer the operating system (in this case MacOS) is in control of the picture profile. While it is possible to calibrate the monitor using an X-Rite or Datacolor MacOS may still make changes to the profile to make things look "better" (things like night shift, adjusting brightness, etc). Therefore when you use the "Clean Feed" feature the monitor's color reproduction is subject to what MacOS thinks is best. When you use the Ultra Studio monitor it removes your operating system from the equation. The UltraStudio Mini Monitor enables DaVinci Resolve software to send a 10-bit image directly to your monitor. It also means that any calibration tuning etc will have to be done in Davinci instead of the operating system. This helps ensure that you have the most accurate representation of your work while you are editing.

Q: 2. Will this unit allow me to to see my camera's coming from the Atem mini extreme in the Atem mini software control?

A: You do not need the Blackmagic Design UltraStudio 3G Recorder to output from the Blackmagic Design ATEM Mini Extreme as the Blackmagic Design ATEM Mini Extreme has an encoder built into the switcher.

Q: 3. Will this output a DaVinci resolve project file when recording to an SSD?

A: This product allows one to take HDMI or 3G-SDI sources and capture them into a computer using software such as Davinci Resolve, Blackmagic Media Express, or OBS.

Q: 5. Does it come with a thunderbolt cable?

A: No, it doesn't come with a thunderbolt cable.

Q: 6. Is there a windows version to this device that will use usb C or usb 2.0/3.0?

A: You should consider the Blackmagic Web Presenter HD or the Blackmagic ATEM Mini Switcher. The Web Presenter has both HDMI and SDI the ATEM Mini Switcher is less expensive but only has HDMI.

Q: 7. Will this work for streaming still images from A Sony A7iii stll camera?

A: No it will not. This product is designed for processing video. If your goal is to stream photos you should use a USB cable and a tethering software such as Capture One.

Q: 9. I understand this can output only 1080p but can it take 4K or higher signal to convert to 1080? Or the input has to be 1080 as well?

Q: 10. Is there a similar product that will allow me to connect to a separate video monitor while recording to a MacBook. So is there one with two outputs?
