A: It is not the typical 5.0 x 2.1/2.5 mm. I purchased this along with a Canon coupler (which IS 5.0 mm) and plan to replace the socket with a 5.0 x 2.1 mm so that the power supply I built (8.4VDC) will work with either or both together (powering both the GH4 and the SmallHD monitor). I searched thru the manual and it IRRITATINGLY does not state the size of the connector. It is a bit smaller than 5.0 mm.

A: It is a matter of opinion but the better video performance in the 2500 makes it a better choice for video. The optical quality is slightly better in the 1000 Mark 2 but not enough to make a difference.

A: They are both good cameras. The FZ300 is better in low light due to the f2.8 aperture and it also has a longer zoom range. The FZ1000-II has a larger image sensor and a higher resolution so it have better image quality. The FZ300 only has a power zoom lens but offers manual focus too using a separate control. The FZ1000-II has a zoom ring that can be switched between use as a zoom ring of a focus ring.
