A: The 3G models do not support external drive recording on the USB. You should consider the 12G models.

A: At this point we do not carry a hood specifically for the Video Assist. However the monitor has not yet been released so 3rd party manufactures have yet to create a lot of accessories for it, but eventually they will. Please keep an eye on our website for updates and new releases as they become available.

Q: 5. Is it compatible with the Nikon D3300? It can output a clean, free from overlays feed on HDMI.

A: It should be, It has HDMI and mini BNC inputs, so far it takes signal form any device i have tried. I have not tried a Nikon camera, but it works with my Panasonic and JVC video cameras.

A: In the Z5u, a full-size HDMI socket provides digital audio and video, handy not just for monitoring but for connecting to a high-quality field recorder like the nanoFLASH or the Ki Pro, or capture cards from AJA or Blackmagic Design. Connecting HDMI disables the analog video outputs.

A: Yes, very easy to start stop. Touch onscreen to run/stop

A: Not independent separate analogue inputs, like an XLR, usually if you have an HDMI or SDI output, the audio is embedded in the video signal.

Q: 9. They came with batteries

A: The Hollyland Mars 400S PRO SDI/HDMI Wireless Video Transmission System comes with a DC power adapter. You need to purchase batteries or another DC Power adapter to power the other unit.

Q: 10. Will this recorder let me bypass the 29.59 minute limit on my Canon 5D mkiii? Also, will my 5D output audio to this recorder?

A: You are correct that the 5D Mark III will not send audio over HDMI in the clean HDMI mode. Dennis L was mistakenly speaking about conventional mode where HDMI does carry audio. Regarding the Blackmagic Video Assist: since the output of the camera is the same, you would still need to use a cable for the audio when using the BM Video Assist.
