Q: 1. On the BMPCC you can display video mode while recording film mode. Will this monitor display video mode while recording film mode on the BMPCC ?

A: That information is not yet available unfortunately. We have to wait and see.

Q: 2. my system getting hot. is that normal or faulty system?

A: Yes, normal behavior for wireless video transmission system. They intend to get very warm.

Q: 3. While recording it seems to capture about 1 hour and 5 minutes at a time and starts a new clip. Is there a solution for this? I would just like to record everything instead of editing clips together.

A: This is a limitation with the QuickTime wrapper not ProRes. DNx MXF files wouldnt have a file break in the recording. The QuickTime files has a pre allocated header size where each frame's information is stored..as the QuickTime file is written out this header file is continually updated. When the header file is filled up a new QuickTime file is created.

Q: 4. Is the Kingston 64GB UHS-1 SDXC Memory Card (B&H # KISD64GBU3, MFR # SDA3/64GB) 100% compatible ?

A: The Kingston has matching specifications to the other cards we suggest for the Video Assist so you are good to go.

Q: 5. Can I feed HDMI in, and plug in SDI out on the other end?

A: Yes, you won't be able to use both at the same time with a single unit. But, you can feed in HDMI in on the transmitter and go SDI out on the receiver (vice versa).

Q: 6. Can I record the HD-sdi output of a Panasonic video switcher at 1920x 1080i 59.94?

A: Yes, you certainly can. We mainly use the HDMI simply because our splitter is an HDMI.

Q: 7. What are the correct HDMI cable to purchase to connect the BM Video Assist to the BM Design Micro Studio 4K?

A: Both the Video Assist and Micro Studio 4k have a 1.0/2.3 DIN connectors for their HD/SDI signal. Canare has a special cable that will allow these two products to work together. The Micro Studio 4k's HDMI output is for monitoring only, not recording, so you would need to use an HD/SDI cable for recording between these two devices.

Q: 8. Can I record wireless externally on the atomos if I hook it up with the Shogun?

A: Using the Hollyland Mars 400S PRO SDI/HDMI Wireless Video Transmission System as a way to get the signal from the camera to the recorder should work; we see no red flags to say no. However, any blip or drop or defect in the signal will be recorded. We suggest that direct recording is the correct method.

Q: 9. I'm hoping to use this to put in between a lap top running power point and a projector to document the presentation with this device while I film the speaker with another. Sounds like with the internal looping this would work. Any pitfalls? Also if a speaker has old VGA laptop, I assume there is a converter but wondering if any other surprises to this approach?

A: Works great to do screen capture on Mac with hdmi out... I mention Mac because Ive tested and the hdmi output options on macs are great for changing between interlaced and progressive etc so the files dont look jumpy when you play them back.

Q: 10. Will this work with an android tablet like Amazon Fire/Samsung A- series? I don't want an iPad.

A: The Hollyland Mars 400S PRO Kit can use the Hollyview app, which is available for both iOS and Android OS.
