This 127mm Tokina PRO IRND Filter is an ND filter with an 8x filter factor that provides a 3-stop exposure reduction. Its 0.9 density creates a darkening of the entire image, allowing you to photograph with a wider aperture or slower shutter speed without overexposing your image. By slowing your exposure time or increasing your aperture, you are able to control depth of field and convey movement more easily. Neutral density filters are intended to not affect the coloration of the image and are ideal for pairing with other filters.

The design of this filter has been optimized for use with digital sensors and to promote nearly flat attenuation of visible and infrared light. Due to imaging sensors' greater susceptibility to infrared light, compared to traditional film, color casts can occur when photographing darker subjects that require increased exposure times. To provide a high level of neutrality across the visible and infrared spectrums in order to eliminate color casts and ensure cleaner, truer blacks, each glass surface includes one layer of ACCU-ND Vapor Deposition coating.

This Tokina 127mm PRO IRND 0.9 Filter is constructed from optical glass for clarity as well as color fidelity and features an aluminum-alloy filter ring.

0.9 neutral density filter darkens the image, allowing you to photograph with a longer shutter speed or wider aperture than normally required.

Providing a 3 stop exposure reduction, this filter allows you to control depth of field and convey movement more easily.

Filter does not affect coloration of the image and is ideal for use with other filters.

Each glass surface includes one ACCU-ND Vapor Deposition coating to attenuate infrared light, as well as visible wavelengths, to maintain color neutrality and suppress color casts due to increased exposure times.

Constructed from optical glass for clarity.

127mm front filter threads allow for use with other filters.

Padded pouch included for storage and transport.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Schneider sells IR cut filters rated for 750nm and 680nm respectively. Do we know at what infrared wavelength this filter begins to cut light?

A: This filter does not cut light at specific nm, but cots down the light by 6 stops compared to what is available at the time of shooting.

Q: 2. is there a particular reason Nisi makes this density in 100x100mm and not 4x4? I need 8 stop ND to complement my Nisi IRND set

A: You can use 100x100 filters. 100x100 is the same as a 4x4 filter.

Q: 3. How many stops would I need to do a long exposure of the direct sunset with a bright reflection off a river? I already have a 3, 6, and 10 and I can't get a past 2 second shutter speed with the 10 stop. Should I stack them or buy the 15 or 20 stop?

A: It is always better to use as few filters in front of the lens as possible so one 20 stop filter would be a better choice.

Q: 4. Are these the same glass as that found on their cine versions?

A: I contacted NiSi concerning your inquiry. According to the manufacturer, yes, the NiSi 77mm HUC PRO Nano IRND 1.8 Filter (6-Stop) uses the same optical grade glass as used in their standard square filters and their Cinema line filters. They state the only filters in their inventory that use B270 Schott glass would be the filters in their 100mm wide Explorer line, which are not available in the circular format.

Q: 5. Will my lens hood still fit on my lens with this filter?

A: Typically this is determined by the lens in question, but because the front and back are the same diameter, it shouldn't be an issue.

Q: 6. Does the IR cut cause vignetting on wide angle lenses? I'd like to use this on the Tokina 11-20mm.

A: You may get some vignetting on the wide end.

Q: 7. will this fit the tilta mini matte box?

A: Yes the NiSi 4 x 5.65" Nano IRND 0.3 Filter (1-Stop) BH #NIRND034X565 • MFR #NIC-4565-ND0.3 will fit the Tiltaing Mini Matte Box BH #TIMBT15 • MFR #MB-T15.

Q: 8. Does this fits Tilta 4 x 5.65" Stackable Filter Tray Holder (BH #TIMBT16SFH)?

A: According to Tilta, the Mirage-system supports 2mm and 4mm filters like this Nano IRND 2.1 filter. The issue with your question, however, is that the stackable filter tray holder is not the device you need to hold the filter. You need TIMBT16SFT (stackable filter tray) AND TIMBT16SFH (stackable filter tray HOLDER) to work with the Mirage matte box.

Q: 9. I have a mirrorless camera that I had converted for IR photography; regular ND filter do not have any effects on exposure; I want to shoot IR with long exposure, will this NiSi IRND do the job?

A: No, the NiSi 82mm PRO Nano IRND 3.0 Filter (10-Stop) would not be compatible for your usage needs. It does the opposite of what you are looking for; it is designed to block IR to the extent that there will not be infrared pollution when taking a long exposure. As an alternative, the filters in the NiSi Swift FS ND Filter Kit (82mm), B&H # NIRFSNDSWK82, are designed to pass all wavelengths of light evenly, so this would also be an alternative for your usage needs. Also, as standard neutral density filters pass along infrared light unless it specifically indicates it has IR reduction, a filter such as the Hoya ProND EX 1000 Filter (82mm, 10-Stop), B&H # HOPNDEX1T82, should also work for your usage needs. https://bhpho.to/3ieQ30o https://bhpho.to/3LZm8bn

Q: 10. Will this fit a Lee Filter holder?

A: Yes.
