With the BH 40, the legs fold as expected, but instead of the legs being perfectly parallel, they splay out a bit - because the BH 40 is larger around than the smaller, lighter travel ball heads. The only problem is to make sure your bag is large enough around to fit the slightly splayed legs. It's only about 3/4 wider. All in all, the 1555 and BH 40 make a very nice set-up, and the BH 40 adds a bit of security for larger rigs. I use it with my 5d3 and 100-400 with complete confidence.
