The 15A CN-15MP Contractor Series MiniPort from FURMAN extends the benefits of SmartSequencing to electronics outside of the equipment rack, providing tremendous flexibility to almost any installation scenario. Multiple units may be daisy-chained and fully controlled via a Furman SmartSequencer, legacy Furman sequencer, third-party sequencers, via the Internet (with BB-RS232 adapter and SmartSequencer), and/or control and automation systems.

We do not believe it will be compatible with this CN-E lens.

A: Unfortunately the lens uses a different protocol and a different pin configuration than the Canon 8 pin servo controllers and can not be adapted. FYI there is a different version of this lens (the Canon CN-E 18-80mm T4.4 Compact-Servo Cinema Zoom Lens with Serial Port (EF Mount)) that can be adapted via the serial port if you build your own adapter.

A: We are not seeing any mention that the servo motor can be removed/replaced by the user. We would think that this has to do with properly aligning it with the lens. However for those of you wishing full manual operation, there is a switch on the bottom left allowing you just that.

A: Judging by what is said here the lens's compatibility depends on your needs, style and taste. I would say that it will do the job for most shooters. Then there is the fact it is only lens of it's type that is even remotely affordable.

Q: 9. Is the aperture constant at all f-stops or only when set to 4.4? The 24-105 is constant only at f4 but will ramp when set any other f-stop.

A: What ever aperture you set on the CN-E 18-80mm, it should not ramp to another. If it did, one of it's most important selling points would go away. We would have to add we have never experienced a lens that ramped at any stop that was not at the wider open end of the aperture scale. In regards of the 24-105mm, we do find when set at f/4, it does darken at 105mm, suggesting that the the true full range stop is more f/4.5 than f/4. But at f/5.6 and higher f/numbers, the exposure remains the same throughout the zoom range.

A: Power is provided to this lens through the EF connection. If the RED camera has an active EF mount it should power this lens and allow for the Optical Image Stabilization to work. You may want to consult with RED directly though regarding specific lenses and their support on a specific camera.
