Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Hi, Im using Nikon z9 + Nikon 800mm f/6.3. is the panning option will work well for videos? or it will to hard to pan gently?

A: The Really Right Stuff BH-40 Ball Head with Lever-Release Panning Clamp doesn't have panning fluid and counter balance so it is hard to pan gently during video. I would recommend a fluid head for panning during video such as this one. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1470943-REG

Q: 2. So without the model that has the Lever-Release Panning Clamp I cannot pan the camera...?? I see similar markings at the bottom of the ball head that I presumed was for panning too. Can someone please clear this up for me...??

A: The bottom portion will pan 360 degrees when the knob is loosened. The pan head on top of the ball joint allows you to level the camera independent of how the tripod is positioned, before panning. it is designed for panning the camera through a panorama sequence, and makes leveling the camera very easy.

Q: 3. Will the compact lever clamp work with Small Rig L Bracket? Would it possibly be too tight or too loose?

A: While this should accommodate arca-swiss plates from any brand, the RRS lever-release clamps are engineered for best fit with their own plates and L-brackets and are not recommended by RRS.

Q: 4. I have 2009 BH-40 and T-Knob is hitting tripod platform. Is the new version shorter and doesn't hit floor when rotating the T-knob?

A: That was a modification made to the new version to help correct that issue.

Q: 5. What size is the threaded stud on the ball that attaches to the QR clamp? 1/4 or 3/8? Thanks!

A: Hi Eric, You can mail Really Right Stuff with your question. They will answer it within a few days !

Q: 6. I already own the RRS B2-LR II panning clamp. Could I just buy the BH-55 head without clamp and use my own panning clamp?

A: Yes, you can. Click on the link below to view the head without clamp; https://bhpho.to/2ZaGqqL

Q: 7. does this head eliminate the need for a leveling base?

A: The Really Right Stuff BH-55 Ball Head with Lever-Release Panning Clamp has panning at the top which allows for level panning. This can negate one of the uses of the leveling base.

Q: 8. Do you give anything up with the Panning Head - stability, size of plates that can be used, and so forth?

A: This is Really Right Stuff: each item is perfect. This one only adds some bulk.

Q: 9. Is the lever release clamp adjustable?

A: Robert, No the lever ins not adjustable. I have used Ready Right Stuff and Kirk Brackets with no problem. the lever is made with a cam over design which as built in adjustabilityin the design. this is the best ball head on the market it'sgreat !!

Q: 10. Any word on whether or not the RRS PC-LR (lever-release panning clamp) and the Kirk BH-1 are compatible? I've asked reps from both companies and have not been given a definite yes/no. Thanks!

A: If your question is about RRS PC-LR and Kirk BH-1 can take the same plate you have on you camera, the answer is YES they can as long as the plate is Arca-type. No guarantee for non-arca-type.
