The Canon FD Lens to Sony E-Mount Camera Pro Lens Mount Adapter from Fotodiox allows a Canon FD-mount lens to be used with any Sony E-mount camera. It is designed to support infinity focusing and is constructed from brass and an aluminum-alloy along with a stainless-steel lens mounting ring to provide a durable, yet lightweight camera-to-lens connection.

This adapter does not support electronic communication between an attached camera and lens. To control the amount of light that enters a Sony E-mount camera when using this adapter and a Canon FD-mount lens, an aperture-control ring is built into the adapter, which couples with the lens's aperture mechanism so that adjustments to brightness as well as depth-of-field can be made. To help prevent stress on the camera mount when placed on a tripod, the adapter includes a detachable Arca-type compatible tripod foot with 1/4"-20 threads.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this adapter have any glass elements or does it act as a macro tube?

A: Since the FD mount had a mirror between the lens mount on the camera and the sensor, the adapter is essentially a macro tube with NO glass. Rhis makes up the mirrors spacing since oir newer camera are mirrorless. It works just as it would on your FD mount camera. You lose no light relative to an FD mount. Adding a priece of glass would only absorb light, and deflect it wider or narrower. Wider would essentially make it lose light and become a longer focal lengthed lens. While narrowing it would be nice to capture what a full frame sensor sees with more light. If you have a sony e mount camera with a full frame (FE mount) this will work as best as the lens can do. If you have a sony e mount crop sensor (just E mount) then you might look for an adapter with glass. Almost all FD lenses were made for full frame support.

Q: 5. I have FD 20mm f/2.8 & 50mm f/1.4. Can this adapter use hyperfocal distance correctly? I know some FD to NEX adapters can't achieve it. I am looking for the right one, thanks! If not, any adapter recommended? Please share ideas!

Q: 6. Hi,I just bought this adapter and it's awesome! But, is there a way to mount fl lens on this? I have two fl lenses and I am wondering how I can do this. In the instructions, there is a way to insert it but it not working.

A: No, this will not work on a Blackmagic Cinema Pocket 6K. If you are looking to use a lens that has a Canon FD mount, you will need an adapter that goes from Canon FD to Canon EF, which is the mount on the Blackmagic 6K. Here is an adapter that will work: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/742933-REG/Vello_LA_CEF_CFD_Canon_EOS_To_Canon.html

Q: 8. Will this adapter work with the a7rII? I've read that the Mark II has a slightly different mount than the a7r.

A: I can't answer that specifically. It's an E-mount so I would assume it works with all E-mount cameras. I've tried it on the a6000 and the FS-5 video camera and it works fine.

A: Yes it will.
