The W-2004 Waterproof Aluminum Alloy Tripod from Sirui features a Waterproof Sealing System that prevents water, dust, or other particles from entering the leg tubes. The tripod extends to a maximum height of 70.9", holds up to 39.7 lb, and weighs 4.6 lb. Reverse-folding legs wrap around most ball heads allowing the tripod to fold down to 20.5".

The 4-section legs are individually adjustable and are held in place with twist locks. One of the legs is removable and can be attached to the center column to make a full-sized 69.7" monopod. The removable rubber feet can be replaced by stainless-steel spikes, affording the tripod stability on a variety of surfaces. The split center column allows the tripod to reach its minimum height of 6.1", and a ballast hook on the center column can hold a stabilizing weight.

Q: 2. can someone who have used this tripod for a while and long periods of time IN WATER please give us a report? i have been trying to find a tripod that's waterproof for years and spent countless of money on so many products that always gave up in water... please confirm the durability of the legs and the rings in water... thanks :)

A: I bought mine in Sept of 2016 and have had it in salt water probably over 60 times. I have never rinsed it off and never wiped it down. Admittedly, I'm pretty tough on my gear and killed 3 previous tripods. B&H recommended this one, so I took a chance on it and LOVE it. Even after everything I had put it through, it works like the day I bought it. I did loose a rubber foot somewhere in Hawaii (oh ya, I even shot the lava with it) and had to have it replaced. But that's it. I look at tripods 2 and 3 times more expensive than this one and thought that I need to spend that kind of money to get a good one. Boy am I glad I didn't and the B&H recommended this one. Super happy with it (and no, I don't work for Sirui.. hahaha). Hope that helped you.

very well built, this is a great field tripod. light enough to pack out into the field and sturdy enough to support 26 pounds. At 17 inches folded and weighing in at only 3.5 pounds it makes a great travel pod. It comes with it's own heavy duty bag and strap, but I strap it the side of my back pack and it rides just fine. i've never been a big fan of ball heads until now. I don't shoot video so I can't comment on how well it would work for that.

No issues whatsoever with the tripod - Love the ball head. Tension on all knobs is very precise and adjusts and holds very small incremental adjustments. Shooting a 5D Mark III and 70-200 2.8 in vertical is rock solid. The foot adjustment is also a very fine thread that allowed me to slowly extend the spike for grip and still use the rubber foot for stability on slippery wet seaweed covered rocks. There is a small learning curve on ball head placement when the tripod is folded to eliminate the knobs from contacting and rubbing the legs. You want to be sure the legs contact the rubber bumper, rather than rest on a knob. The bag is well padded.

I am at a stage of life when a tripod that allows me to continue photography outdoors is most appreciated. The aluminum tripod is strong, yet much lighter than my trusty Bogen 3130, which probably won't get out of the house much any more. I can use the SIRUI ET-2004 to hold any of four cameras (three film SLRs and one mirrorless camera) for portrait or macro photography. Walking down into the garden with a cane is no problem, since the ET-2004 is easy to carry, and it sets up fairly easily. (I do recommend attaching the camera plate t the camera before heading out. The procedure gives me one less thing to remember.) I do wish the tripod's legs extended and retracted a little more easily. Currently they are hinged to the center pole, and one bends them down before using the tripod, then back up after using it. That's fine. The hinges, however, require a bit more pressure than is comfortable to apply sometimes. A little thought takes care of the issue, and it is not a large problem. I just wonder whether a screw mechanism might serve as well and be easier to work.

I recently bought and returned a 5 lb Manfrotto tripod with a heavy head with two grips (levers) to adjust. Turns out my camera's LCD screen would not work properly with this head. B&H, being the fantastic company they are, allowed me to return the almost-new tripod and head and suggested I purchase the Sirui one. WOW..so much lighter, the ball head is so much easier to use and does all the things the Manfrotto did! I bought both of these tripods sight unseen and just wish the sales rep had told me about the Sirui tripod in the beginning. You won't go wrong with this one! AND, its own carry case is included.
