The CSX IRT4 10-Channel Infrared Near Field Transmitter from AKG transmits up to ten language channels designed for near field use, with a radiation angle of ±60° to cover the distance of up to 115'. Using PPM (Pulse Phase Modulation) technology, all LED´s cover the same area and distance, regardless the number of channels needed in an application. Hence, exact coverage is ensured even if channel needs change.

The CSX IRT4 can be cascaded almost without limit, due to a signal refresher built in into the transmitter, enabling coverage of very large areas. The transmitter's design eliminates the needs for cooling fans, which also eliminates noise. Clearly visible LED´s make the status readable from the distance, enhancing security for onsite technicians.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is it best practice to turn off phantom power before turning off the device in beginner mode? Thank you for your time.

A: You do not have to turn off the phantom power before turning on the MixPre-10 II. It is advisable that you do not have the phantom power turned on when only using dynamic mics, or battery powered mics, as it will consume more battery power from the recorder unnecessarily.

Q: 2. Will this unit drive a 250 ohm or 600 ohm headphone player with plenty of power, to where I don't feel like I need a higher power amplifier?

A: The specs show power of 600mw with 32 ohm headphones. One must also consider: 1- the headphone sensitivity specification, which will tell you how loud a headphone is, based on the power applied. 2- the transients in whatever it is you are listening to; large transients requires much more power. see below article of explanation: https://www.audeze.com/blogs/technology-and-innovation/sensitivity-impedance-and-amplifier-power

Q: 3. It is possible to power it with a dtap battery and a herose adapter?

A: Hi Dario. Sure, you can power the MixPre-10 II with a dtap battery w/hirose connector. Just make sure voltage from the battery is 10 - 18 volts.

Q: 4. My cable box has a port that reads IR. I presume that I may plug this into that port so I can place the cable box out of sight?

A: It's difficult to predict how well any ir extender will work in a particular situation. Lights can be a factor. Kopul intends this transmitter and receiver kit to be used with a switch like this: Kopul HDMI Switcher 4 x 1 B&H # KOHDSW2041 MFR # HDSW-2041. You may be able to use something like this: Kramer 3.5mm to Single IR Emitter Cable (10') B&H # KRCA35MIRE10 MFR # C-A35M/IRE-10

Q: 5. am I crazy or does this device shut off all mic inputs other than 1-4 in ambisonic mode? this would mean while using the ambeo i cannot plug in any other microphones?

A: That is correct, only channels 1-4 can be operated for ambisonic recording .

Q: 6. is it possible to use the ambeo in conjunction with additional microphones in inputs 5-8?

A: Yes. The Sennheiser AMBEO VR 3D Microphone BH #SEAVRM offers 4 Matched KE 14 Cardioid Capsules in Ambisonics A-format arrangement: 1: front-left-up (FLU) 2: front-right-down (FRD) 3: back-left-down (BLD) 4: back-right-up (BRU) Mixing to B-Format: W: FLU + FRD + BLD + BRU X: FLU + FRD - BLD - BRU Y: FLU - FRD + BLD - BRU Z: FLU - FRD - BLD + BRU A split cable 4XLR is included in the box..

Q: 7. Do I need a buy an external Time Code or the integrated one is good enough?

A: This unit has a built in time code generator, although it will sync if you prefer to use an additional generator.

Q: 8. Will this unit drive a 250 ohm headphone with enough power to where I dont feel like I need a higher power amp?

A: This is a professional, studio- quality headphone amplifier that is compatible with low and high impedance headphones, and will have the power to handle 250 Ohm headphones.

Q: 9. Does this only mix to stereo or can it upmix to 5.1?

A: The Sound Devices MixPre-10 II Field Recorder will only mix to stereo. For a 5.1 mix, you can upload the tracks to your computer's DAW.

Q: 10. Any idea how much amplification is added to the signal?

A: AKG lists the nominal output as 680 mW per channel into 32 Ohms.

If you're looking at these you know what they are. No better mid field monitor exists.

We got a zoom and needed a good way to pipe two audio inputs into it from different sources. This mixer seems to be working out well for that. I've used it with a lav and boom and it offered good level control for booth piping each to a different channel.

Going to the PSI Audio is an upgrade from the Adam A7Xs Id been using for 5 years. While Id say the Adams are 95% of the way to unadulterated flat audio the PSIs bring it up to 98%. For some that small difference might not be worth the large difference in price. All depends on your resources and how you choose to use them. For me monitors and sound treatment are of upmost importance to the realization of my productions. They are the window from which I view sound and a foggy window, or a small window, will impede the seeing of what is there. The PSIs offer a remarkably clean and balanced 3 dimensional imaging. Ive noticed little ear fatigue, even after many hours, unlike the Adams, which can tend to sound brittle after some hours of listening. I use the PSIs as near-fields and find them actually well suited to a 3 distance I normally work at (even though they are recommended for a further distance). With the Adams I employed a sub (either a Genelec or the Adam Sub8). With the PSIs I dont feel the need for a sub.

This field mixer is packed with features at a price that can't be beat. You can use internal batteries or use a camera battery with a D-Tap and cable to supply long lasting power. There are two versions of this mixer, one with camera return and one with digital output. Make sure you get the version you want. I accidentally got the digital output version and had to return it. Recommended accesories for this mixer:
1) Sachtler Lightweight Audio Bag (Small) - BH# SALWABS
2) Breakaway Audio Cable - BH# RECABCFP33
3) CAMVATE D-Tap to 4-Pin Hirose Cable - BH# CAC2379
4) Core SWX Nano-U98 14.8V Battery with D-Tap - BH# CONU98

The disclaimer in these reviews should always begin with: everyone has different standards, based on their experience... In my opinion, these little monitors are a great solution (genius, actually) for audio mixing when you're not working out of a larger studio. As advertised, these provide excellent, accurate, crisp sound and LF/Flat/HF options at the push of a button. Overall range is superb...like you're listening to much larger monitors. Bluetooth works well, but for video editing I use a cabled connection to my desktop due to latency between the sound and picture. Obviously not an issue when you're only mixing audio tracks.

Portability is a plus if you need to travel and mix. No problem fitting into a camera pack with laptop, cans, etc... for carry-on sized luggage bins. I researched (and bought and returned) other systems. If you need monitors for a smaller space that produce beautiful sound while offering a flat frequency option, it's hard to do better than this for the price. Especially now that they're south of $400. And when you just want to listen to marathon trance mixes while working on your base grade, they deliver in that realm, too. Even without a dedicated sub.

These KRK speakers are fantastic for my weekly travels while editing videos. They are small and portable while also giving really clear audio. I am able to clearly hear the difference significantly between the L and R channels while morning with stereo audio. Highly recommended!
