Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. are the clamps metal or plastic?

A: The levers are plastic but the piece on the leg that does the clamping is die cast magnesium. It might look and feel like plastic but it is not. I have had the legs apart and can confirm this.

Q: 2. can I buy a short center column for this tripod?

A: The Benro ASC2 short center column will work for the TAD28A. Click the link below to view; https://bhpho.to/2BioXmY

Q: 3. Does this come with the head in the picture or do I need to buy a separate head?

A: A tripod head is not included with the purchase of the Benro TAD27A Series 2 Adventure Aluminum Tripod, B&H # BETAD27A. The tripod head, Canon DSLR camera, and Canon lens pictured as options and to display the tripod in usage. If you are looking for a 3-Way Pan Head for use with the tripod, I would recommend either the Benro HD3A 3-Way Panhead, B&H # BEHD3A, or the Benro HD1A 3-Way Panhead, B&H # BEHD1A, depending on the amount of weight you plan to support and/or your budget.

Q: 4. Is the 3/8” stud threaded into a corresponding 3/8 threaded hole in this tripod head? Can it be unscrewed?

A: Yes, the 3/8" stud can b e removed.

Q: 5. I lost one of the rubber feet/spikes. Where, if anywhere, can I buy a replacement?

A: The replacement feet are actually made by Mefoto, they also fit Benro triopds. To view the items on our website click on the link below; https://bhpho.to/2KxcPR6

Q: 6. Do the legs grip well enough to hold 8 lb slider with a 7-9 lb rig? Is the leg tension adjustable/can it be tightened?

A: Clamp tension is easily adjustable with the included tool. I would feel confident putting that much weight on this tripod. Some clamps on mine were set a bit looser than I'd prefer but that was not a problem to correct.

Q: 7. How accurate is the load capacity? Looking to use this with a Pentax 6x7

A: The weight capacity on the TAD18A is very accurate, as it definitely hold a Pentax 67. However, this tripod still requires a head such as the Benro B3 Triple Action Ball Head, BH # BEB3 https://bhpho.to/2XnTeuA

Q: 8. Do you have a head mount reducing bolt from 3/8-16 to 1/4-20?

A: Reducing? I don't think that exists but the TAD27A incorporates a reversing bolt; it comes as ⅜ but per the instructions you can unscrew that bolt, flip it, and then you've got ¼.

Q: 9. What is the diameter of the top plate?

A: The Benro TAD27A Series 2 Adventure Aluminum Tripod has a base mount diameter of 56mm.

Q: 10. What is the diameter of the base plate?

A: A little under 3", about 2 7/8"

Great lightweight starting tripod for one-man band productions. Price definitely an influencer one my purchase. Processed with the benro s4 tripod head and axler slider.

Got this to hold a teleprompter and Nikon Z9 for making YouTube videos. Holds the teleprompter and camera very sturdy. Went with the lower cost aluminum version as I use it in the studio and don't need to travel with it.

While I already have a Benro monopod and heavier Benro tripod, I wanted a tripod that was light and compact enough to fit in my daypack, so I could try some HDR and panoramic photography in places we have seen on day hikes. This is an excellent choice for that, and a nice compromise between weight, height, compactness, and stability.

I already had an RRS BH-40 ball head and it mates perfectly with the tripod's mounting platform, which is 2.25 inches in diameter: see photo. The diameter of this platform is not frequently called out in the typical list of specifications.

Spend a little more and get a good one, like this one. The first one I bought was too flimsy and made my spotting scope useless.

Bought this to replace another tripod. Already had ball head. So far it's functioned as needed. Locks are easy to open and release and feel solid when engaged. Carrying bag is nice for storing when not using. Legs held my Sony and Sigma 100-400 in some pretty stiff winds with no problems. Definitely recommend as a lesser dollar, but not lesser quality option.

Excellent quality at affordable price. I like the lever locks vs the twist type you find on similar models. Just a really nice feel to it. Carry bag with shoulder strap nice quality too. Recommended...

Love this tripod. The lever stops are very ergonomic and very tight. They are very satisfyingly secure and no creep at all.

Overall this tripod is sturdy and - although a slight bit heavier than optimum - is extremely portable + field ready + steady.
