The 5th edition of Alternative Scriptwriting: Beyond the Hollywood Formula from Focal Press takes the approach of learning to write original screenplays by learning how to break the established screenwriting rules and conventions. The authors, Dancyger and Rush, expand their previous approach of writing against conventional formulas beyond just the 3-act story structure. This edition includes chapters on popular genres such as feature documentary, long-form television serials, non-linear stories, satire, fable, and docudrama. The authors also tackle character development and take you through case studies of both The Wizard of Oz and Pan's Labyrinth.

Ken Dancyger is a Professor of Film and Television at Tisch School of the Arts - New York University as well as the author of numerous books on screenwriting, editing, and production. Jeff Rush is an Associate Professor at Temple University's Department of Film & Media Arts as well as the author of numerous articles on screenwriting and narrative theory.

    Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. How much weight will a grip arm support ?

A: It depends on the orientation of the arm and clamps. It is a solid steel rod. In many cases it will exceed the load limit of a stand.

Q: 2. Wondering if unit can be used to heat press lining to fabric?

A: I am not exactly sure of what mean by this application. If the temperature range is ok for the adhesive I don't see why not. The ends are open such that wider material can protrude from the sides.

Q: 3. Will the diameter of the arm fit into a standard umbrella swivel adapter?

A: The diameter of this arm would be too large to fit the umbrella slot on a standard umbrella swivel adapter.

Q: 4. Can this press be used to mount digital prints and what kind of sealant paper is used to mount them?

A: This press can be used to dry mount digital prints with the help of the D&K Fusion 4000 Dry Mounting Tissue - 24 x 30 yd. B&H # DKFS40002430 .

Q: 5. What's is the maximum weight this can hold?

A: As per Matthews, this Hollywood Junior Offset Arm would hold up to 30 lbs.

Q: 6. Does the 5/8" pins pins have the "Anti-Twist Knurling"? Or is it just "glossy and smooth" without this rough surface where the screw should be screwed into the pin?

A: All of the 5/8" Baby pins have the Anti-Twist Knurling.

Q: 7. Can you adjust the pedal mount angle?

A: The angle cannot be adjusted.

Q: 8. What is the largest print you can dry mount? How do you dry mount prints that are larger than 18 x 23?

A: I do a lot of 16x20 prints, but to do larger than that , say a 20x30, you just pass the print through the press and do it in sections. Just make sure you don't over lap the mounting tissue if it's not large enough to cover your entire size, or you will see a line in your final print.

Q: 9. Hi there. What is the maximium diameter pipe it can accept?

A: The Matthews Hollywood Corner - Set of 4 BH #MAHWC is designed for 1" square tubing.

Q: 10. Are the corners and ears for mounting the frame onto stands included, or not?

A: Corners are included. The ears are not. You will need 2x https://bhpho.to/2H3vTnT.

This gobo arm was purchased to replace one that had been used to chip ice to free a grip truck out of an alley. Then some grip left it in the alley and the metal guys grabbed. I bought a new one. It works great for setting flags and such as well as chipping ice.

I've been waiting for half a year and thank B & H.
I still don't seem to get it, but I was lucky.
I attached it to the T300RS. It was a little difficult to set up, but I was very excited to be able to clear it and play the game on the PS5-F1-2021.

Identical to the boom arm that came with my Matthew's C-Stand, just shorter. I'm using it to hang a 16x35 strip box from a C-stand boom arm. Adding the Gobo arm to the stand's existing boom arm made it possible to increase the distance between the C-stand riser and the strip box when positioning it near ground level.

Industry standard. Wish it would be cheaper.
