The Speed Booster Ultra 0.71x Adapter for Sony A-Mount Lens to Fujifilm X-Mount Camera from Metabones allows a full-frame Sony A-mount lens to be mounted onto a Fujifilm X-mount camera. While doing so, the adapter's optics help to maximize the connected lens's apparent angle of view while providing a 1-stop increase for the camera over the lens's aperture range.
If a lens intended for 35mm film or similarly sized full-frame camera sensors is connected to a camera with a Fuji X-mount APS-C-sized sensor, it would project an image larger than the Fuji X-mount APS-C sensor was built to accept. Able to capture only the center portion of the projected image, the effective angle of view of the lens would be narrowed, creating an in-camera "crop factor." The Speed Booster Ultra 0.71x Adapter for Sony A-Mount Lens to Fujifilm X-Mount Camera condenses the light from a lens designed for 35mm film or "full frame" camera sensors and projects it onto a Fuji X-mount APS-C sensor. This allows a Fuji X-mount APS-C sensor to utilize more of the light gathered by a connected lens, which effectively reduces the crop factor while making available to the sensor an additional 1 stop of light for each of the lens's f/stop settings.
This adapter is constructed from aluminum alloy for durability while minimizing weight and its mounting rings are made with brass to further prevent wear-and-tear. Inside are five lens elements in four groups that are designed to provide optical clarity as well as color fidelity, and a detachable tripod foot is included that features 3/8" threads as well as compatibility with Arca-Swiss tripod heads.
The Speed Booster Ultra 0.71x Adapter for Sony A-Mount Lens to Fujifilm X-Mount Camera does not support electronic communication between an attached camera and lens. To help determine the amount of light that enters a Fujifilm X-mount camera when using this adapter and a Sony A-mount lens, an aperture dial is built into the Speed Booster Ultra 0.71x Adapter for Sony A-Mount Lens to Fujifilm X-Mount Camera.

Related Questions and Answers
Q: 1. Does this adapter can be use on Sony a77 and Sony a99 ii for Sigma 800mm F-mount with AF? If not what adapter do you suggest to be able to use this camera with AF?
A: No, the Metabones Nikon F-Mount Lens to Sony E-Mount Camera Speed Booster ULTRA will not work with the Sony A99 or the A77: https://bhpho.to/2dRc0U1
Q: 2. My current camera is a Sony a7riii. I have a-mount glass 2.8 70-200 G & 85 1.4 zeiss... will this work seamlessly or do I have to completely switch to e-mount
A: Yes, you may use the Metabones Sony A-Mount Lens to Sony E-Mount Camera Speed Booster ULTRA with the Sony 70-200mm f/2.8 G SSM II Lens and the Sony Planar T* 85mm f/1.4 ZA Lens. Do note that this is a speed booster, with a 0.71x conversion and will make your lens one (1) f-stop brighter, so your 70-200mm f/2.8 lens will become the equivalent of a 49.7-142mm f/2 lens, and the 85mm f/1.4 will become the equivalent of a 60.4mm f/1 lens. When using a speedbooster on a full-frame camera such as the Sony Alpha a7R III Mirrorless Digital Camera, it is best to use the camera in APS-C crop mode as the speedbooster reduces the lens' imaging circle, so it will not cover the entire sensor. If you are looking for an adapter that will have no effect to the lens, allowing the lens to keep the same focal length and aperture (and imaging circle) for use of the full sensor, I would instead recommend the Sony A-Mount to E-Mount Lens Adapter (Black), B&H # SOLAEA3, for your usage needs. In either case, both adapters listed above allow you to use your Sony A-mount lenses on the Sony E-mount lens mount.
Q: 3. does this work with Nikon ais lens, such as 105mm f2.5, micro 55mm f2.8..etc..?
A: This adapter does a terrific job doing just about everything possible for being an adapter. It will take your Nikkor lenses and attach them to your Fujifilm X-Mount camera. It will squeeze the image so it better fits the Fujifilm camera's APS-C format. In doing so, it also makes the lens brighter or faster. This lets you shoot in lower light. Now, a couple of things it does not do. It cannot transmit electronic communication between the camera and lens. That means you must manually focus and manually set the aperture on the adapter to get your proper exposure. Other than that stipulation, which you may enjoy actually, you are good to go.
Q: 4. Hello, does it allows an APS-C lens? Is the Sigma Art 18-35 compatible with it?
A: This will work with Sony A mount lens. The Sigma 18-35mm will not be compatible.
Q: 5. is it possible to use sigma 18-35 f1.8 sony lens to a7riii with this speed booster?
A: Yes, if you have an A mount lens, then it will work.
Q: 6. Will this work with the 14-24 f2.8 WA zoom? Answers to this question seem to have some questions as to whether they are accurate. Thanks
A: It will work and you will keep the same focal length contrary to the inaccurate information that's on the web saying that it reduces your 14-24 to 10-17. Also you will be stuck at shooting f2.8 since it does not have an aperture ring. Finally, depth of field remains the same. F2.8 will still be f2.8 but you will get a stop of extra light. This speedbooster works best with lenses that have an aperture ring. The more you know.
Q: 7. I bought this adapter to try using The Nikkor PC lens 24mm and the PC 19mm on my Fuji xt2. Although it mounts and shoots, I cant change the aperture even though the 24 has an aperture ring. It works flawlessly with a 50mm f1.8 prime though. The pc lenses are not on the metabones list of lenses that dont work. Any suggestions?
A: Make sure that the camera menu says shoot without lens. That is the main reason folks have problems with these lens adapters on Fuji cameras. Once you are up and running, both the aperture and the f/stop are manual. I do not know about the manual aperture not working on the 24mm, I cannot see why it would not. However, I would say that in any event, the aperture on the adapter would be the way to go.
Q: 8. I have some late 80's early 90's Minolta AF A-mount lenses , like the 100mm 2.8 / 50mm 1.4 / and 500mm 8. Would these autofocus on the sony 7rii in Video Mode? Thanks
A: A to E Mount adapters can give you autofocus. https://bhpho.to/2qaXWtu
Q: 9. Will the speed booster support Tamron F mount lenses such as the Tamron SP 85mm f/1.8 Di VC USD Lens and would it loose its VC or any other side effects apart from AF and AE? Would the focal length or minimum focus distance change?
A: VC will be disabled as the adapter has no electronic contacts. Apart from that, the lens' focal length will change due to crop factor and the speedbooster's optical element (85mm x 1.5 crop factor x 0.71 optical element) and its maximum aperture will increase by a stop (as far as light collection is concerned).
Q: 10. May I use this booster on A7 MarkII to mount Sony/Minolta Alpha lenses?
A: The Sony A7 II uses Sony E-Mount lenses. The Metabones Sony A-Mount Lens to Sony E-Mount Camera Speed Booster ULTRA (B&H # MESPAEBM2 MFR # MB_SPA-E-BM2) will allow you to use Sony A-Mount lenses with the E-Mount A7 II.
