The Feisol QPL-148045 L-Bracket enables fast changes between portrait and landscape orientation without the need to readjust your head and completely recompose the shot. You can simply release the bracket from your Arca-style quick-release clamp, turn it 90°, and lock the bracket back in place. Using an L-bracket also facilitates a sturdier base of support than tilting an entire head to a 90° position. The machined aluminum QPL-148045 features a safety stop screw to prevent accidental release when adjusting the plate.

Q: 8. I have a Nikon D500, and use a Feisol tripod with the Feisol CB-40 D ballhead. The ballhead comes with the QP-144750 release plate, and claims to be an Arca-Swiss compatible QR system. Feisol makes an L bracket for this ball head, but it is not specific to the D500. I suspect I’m better off buying an L bracket specific to my camera so that it doesn’t block any of the ports. But I’m concerned that this Kirk bracket may not fit, or may not fit as securely, as the quick release plate that was designed for and came with the ballhead. Any thoughts on whether this Kirk L bracket will work with my current set up? Thanks.

A: If you are referring to the Kirk BL-D500N, then yes it will work fine in your Feisol ball head.

Q: 9. Will he Feisol QPL148045 work with a Canon 5D Mark 4?

A: We have not received feedback on the Canon 5D Mark4 yet, but the QPL-148045 was designed with Canon products in mind and does very well with them.

Q: 10. will this fit a sony Rx 100Vll without blocking the battery door?

A: Unfortunately, due to the position of the tripod screw mount (it's adjacent to the battery door), any quick release plate will block the battery door by design. i needed a panning base to replace the leveling head on my tripod. i'm a beginning astrophotographer (maybe) and needed to replace the leveling head on my tripod. i purchased a goto mount from B&H and was warned by the mount mfg not to use leveling heads (too easy to grab the wrong lever in the dark of night and have the entire top heavy assembly (mount/camera/astrograph) end up on the ground. this panning base is exactly the right accessory to allow me to level my tripod but still make coarse azimuth adjustments prior to polar alignment without having to reposition the tripod legs. the product is well made and seems very durable. 5

The bracket seems well constructed of high grade aluminum. Its black with FEISOL across the bottom and its model number. The side does not go up all that far on the side, that being said...this is my first L bracket I have purchased. 5

I bought this bracket to keep my camera centered and balanced over the center of the tripod when in the vertical position. Without such an accessory you run the risk of a heavier rig tipping over more easily. Works great and is super fast to change your cameras orientation with minimal recomposing. 5

I use a heavy-duty tripod without a head for my star tracker. Inserting this between the tripod and the star tracker made azimuth adjustments easy, and there's no play in the panning base, so it's solid for long exposures. I'm very pleased with it! 5

Well made and sturdy. When coupled with a PMG GT2 Tomahawk this provides 95% of gimbal function at a fraction of the weight. PMG should consider bundling similar or building the functionality in. 5

I replaced some arca-type l-brackets with this one because I own two Feisol heads. The orca-type brackets work, but it required backing the clamp out considerably to take them in and out of the Feisol clamp. They orca-type brackets did not have a channel machined into the track for the Feisol refining pin either. As minor as it sounds, those things added time and frustration to my tripod sessions. The Feisol l-bracket fits much closer to my D750 than the other brackets, and I can remove it from the tripod with a quarter turn of the clamp. Also, the retaining pin keeps the bracket locked into the clamp even if it isn't tight. Details matter, and Feisol does it correctly! 5

Works smoothly like a Swiss watch. Tightens down nicely with side knob. Only issue I had was attaching an Arca Swiss mount to top. Make sure yours has 3/8 mount or removable 3/8 to 1/4 adapter. Screw thread on top of pan can not be changed by normal home devices. Second issue was interference with knob on Arca Swiss mount I wanted to add. Just unscrew knob on pan base and remove. 5

This is a quality L-bracket. I like that it has rubber pads on both surfaces that are in contact with the camera. It's versatile since it can be used with any camera. 5
